Picardia Mexicana [VHS]

Alejandro's incredibly expressive eyes, and his ability to communicate emotions, can be seen in him here as a child. It's captivating, a joy beyond words. This is a large part, with a lot of dialogue... and in every scene, he's amazing. There is a very emotional one between him and "Chente" (Vicente Fernández), that will tear your heart out...and the famous smile, with his two front teeth missing !This film has its share of bawdy humor, a great barroom fight ( I love a well filmed fight !), but mostly it's wonderfully sentimental, and deeply moving...you will cry and cry ! Vicente looks terrific and sings beautifully, and is excellent in this, and Jacqueline Andere is perfect as the girl he falls for.The tenderness, humanity, and love in this film make it very special, and for Alejandro's fans, a priceless treasure !

In Picardia Mexicana(1978), a macho guy(Vicente Fernandez) and a lovely schoolteacher(Jaqueline Andere) raise a boy when his mother is forced to do time in prison! This film is part comedy, part tearjerker drama. It has a fair amount of profanity and vulgar humor(For example, Adalberto Martinez and Hector Suarez run nude down a street!); one should be careful when watching PM around kids or prudes. In the film Me Quiero Casar(1967), Angelica Maria can be seen reading a copy of Armando Jimenez's book Picardia Mexicana. The credits to this film claim that the movie is an adaptation of Jimenez's book. Also, this film is a nice time capsule. In the background, a kid can be seen wearing a Jaws T-shirt. Jaqueline Andere looks great in this film...even in tacky 1970's clothes! PM "echos" Mexican movies of the past(Nosotros Los Pobres, El Bolero de Raquel, etc.). PM is required viewing for anyone curious about Mexican cinema.

Love chente movies. If you like Vicente Fernandez, you must own this.

I BOUGHT THIS MOVIE THE OTHER DAY WITH OTHER VICENTE FERNANDEZ MOVIES AND I HAVE TO SAY THAT THIS IS MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITE OF THE THREE. THIS MOVIE WILL MOVE YOU IN A WAY THAT YOU WILL WANT TO SEE IT OVER AND OVER AGAIN. YOU CAN DEFINITELY SEE THE CLOSENESS THAT FATHER AND SON HAVE. (VICENTE AND ALEJANDRO)EVEN THOUGH ALEX IS A CHILD. AT TIMES, I GOT THE IMPRESSION THAT THEY WEREN'T ACTING THAT THE SCENES AND WORDS WERE COMING STRAIGHT FROM THEIR HEARTS WITH THE EXCEPTION THAT "LUISITO" WAS CALLING VICENTE, "VICENTE" AND NOT PAPA AND VISE-VERSA. THIS MOVIE IS AS SENTIMENTAL AS "MI QUERIDO VIEJO." THE ONE AND ONLY MOVIE THESE TWO DID TOGETHER WHERE ALEJANDRO IS ALREADY AN ADULT. I RECOMMEND THIS MOVIE TO VICENTE AND ALEJANDRO FANS ALIKE, IT WILL DEFINITELY TEAR YOUR HEART OUT. I KNOW IT DID MINE!!!! BE READY TO GET THE TISSUES OUT!!!
