First, you should not buy any USB 2.0 flash drives for data storage or file transfers, because they are very slow. Why do I buy this flash drive? It's because PNY's best value and reputation. It's a USB 2.0 flash drive as advertised, so I use it to make bootable disk for clean install Windows 10 or 8.1 operating systems. All you need to do is to download the free media creation tool from Microsoft's Windows website and follow instructions on screen from there. Regarding that case opening, all you need to do is to use your thumb in one hand to hold the middle part of the flash drive firmly, then use your other hand to pull out the slider on two sides quickly. Make sure your hands are pretty dry. If you use a sweaty hand to try pulling out the flash drive slider, you will never be able to do so. For Windows bootable disk, there's no speed difference between USB 2.0 or 3.0, but the hard drive you use to install the operating system do matter. You will want to use a solid state drive to be paired with this flash drive to install Windows 10 or 8.1 easily. Never pay unnecessary fee to get a back-up bootable disk from your computer's manufacturer, because it's a waste of money.

Good price but they don't open and close the easiest

I know PNY from a video card in a prebuilt from 2012, so I trust em compared to 97% the chinese copy-paste brands here on amazon, and for the very good price of, what, 10 bucks tops I think I paid, this is an absolute steal. I really only needed a couple drives because I need a dedicated Windows USB ISO as well as another for setup stuff like drivers, bios updates, MAS, steam, discord, telegram, the sorts. Also 'coz of the wide variety of usb flash drives I have, my old dedicated windows iso flash drive quit working, and a couple others are too outdated (as in, less than 8 gigs of space each) Not USB 3.0? Who cares? I sure don't. If you need something cheap but solid, get this.

Bought these at the Church I work for, where we are constantly swapping presentations. Cheap brands fail all the time, and have caused issues as time is often a factor for us. These have proven solid. It's not like drives are expensive, so pay the extra for a quality brand.

I wanted to use these to display photos on an HDTV, but the TV will not display a folder that now contains more that 1500 jpg photographs.

these work well, don't cost a lot of money, and can take an acceptable amount of data. They don't seem to be bothered by getting stuck in pockets or rattled around in a desk drawer. They always work and we've not had any issues with them.
