Filled a need AT&T no longer supports. - Follow Up
I had one of these from AT&T when they replaced the old 3G version that made my home phone a "cellular" phone. It lasted about 6 months. Reached out and they said, "take it to an AT&T outlet". They replaced the SIM and all was good...for about 3 months. Took it back again and they replaced the SIM again, but it never worked. They told me that they no longer support these. Well, what to do???Support had me on the phone for 2 hours only to tell me that I would either need to buy a cell phone to use my home number, convert back to landline, drop my home phone number or buy one of these from a website.Well, let's see...Buy a $1000 cell phone, give up a number that's been tied to all contacts for 30 years, pay $70+ per month for a landline or buy from a third party. Well, I can buy one of these every month and be ahead of that conversion back and I see no need to buy a new phone, make payments and a $35 monthly fee for it to sit on a table and I didn't want to have to change every contact list I have, so I decide to buy this.Took the SIM out of the old one, popped it in here and had home phone service again in less than 20 minutes.Hopefully this one will work much better than the AT&T supplied one.Follow-up...Well, it has been almost 18 months and no issues whatsoever. Still connected as my "land line" number via the cellular capability. Still able to screen calls with it and retrieve those annoying texts to my home number. Absolutely set on keeping this as long as possible.

Service at last!
When I moved, I found my home phone number that I had for over 25 years, could not be ported over to my new home. AT&t explained that the only way to keep my home number was to change to a cellular format using a wireless modem, which they provided. The modem lasted 2 yrs before malfunctioning. When calling AT&t support, I found they no longer support this service and could not provide a replacement. A technician suggested I order one on Amazon, which I did. in the meantime I contacted AT&t again, with hopes that troubleshooting which of my issue. The technician advised my monthly charges included a protection plan. WOW, if I had been reminded of this, I would have contacted the insurance company for a replacement earlier. After weighing pros/ cons & cost of AT&T coverage vs. ordering device and protection plan from Amazon, I'm glad I chose the route of ordering from Amazon. I get the same product and better, extended protection then I received from AT&T. I received my modem, contacted AT&T tech support and now have my home phone landline service up and running....... and even received credit (rental of AT&T device) equaling twice the amount I paid for my device and protection from Amazon.

Just what I needed.
This is almost identical to a ten year old ATT Homebase that wanted to upgrade. I bought the first one at the local ATT store but ATT doesn’t sell these anymore. They told me to check Amazon. This device gives you a home WiFi system with a cellular source. It also converts your land line into a cell system. Despite what the seller claims, it IS basically a HOMEBASE and is much more than just a wifi router.Because the new unit takes a smaller SIM card than the original homebase, I couldn’t just swap cards.I had to go to the ATT store to have a new SIM card set up. Took just a few minutes. No cost.Plugged it all in at home and fired it up. Works great and gives me a much stronger signal with the two optional antennas. The original unit had no way to attach exterior antennas. This is perfect for an area with no access to broadband except via a cellular signal.

4G Replacement for AT&T Homebase Phone.
Bought this because AT&T phase out the old 3G homebase phone.Per their customer service, they should have sent me a new device but can’t find any record about sending.Anyway, they told us to buy this model because they no longer have them on their inventory to send it to me.So far, it work but not as good as the old one.The thing I don’t like about this new device is that I no longer have instant dial tone to make a call.I will have to wait like about 5 or more seconds. From a few seconds of no tone, then a few seconds of busy signal tone before the dial tone come on.

Still Available - Thank Goodness
Item was well packaged and arrived in good condition. We were very glad to find this listing after finding out our local ATT retail storefront was no longer handling this unit. One of the staffers mentioned Amazon as a possible source of the wireless home phone base unit. This unit is an exact match for the model we received from ATT as part of the phaseout of 3G services going over to 4G and above. Some of connection issues were due to a SIM card issue, but we feel better we already have a backup base station on hand.
