If you live in a (sub)urban area, this could well be the only torch you need. I have another torch from when I was a kid (25 years ago) which takes 4 D cell batteries and has a traditional bulb. This with one AAA battery is as powerful, at a fraction of the size. It has a 'cree led' I believe. Quality build and easy to use. Also, made in the UK.UPDATE: The thread on the switch end wore out and so it became inoperable. To their credit, the manufacturer replaced it free of charge with an upgraded model.
