This stand is great so far. I like that it's small, yet sturdy for the pop-up, Kate backdrop. I have been needing a smaller one for the eyelighter and will give it a try with that product.

This is on par with cheapo stands you’ll see on Amazon: flimsy metal tube stand, no rubber ends on the “feet”, plastic knobs. If you over tighten this, even by accident, it will break. I am incredibly disappointed that a company known for making backdrops would have their name on such a terrible stand. It should be at least $15 cheaper.It’s easy to assemble, sure. It’s just a lightweight light stand with an attachable plastic clamp for the backdrop. It comes with two clamps which I guess is a good deal? But again, it’s no different than any of the garbage light stands all photographers get at the beginning with some terrible florescent lights because they don’t know better.I’ve purchased 3 or 4 back drops from Kate’s, mostly cloth backdrops, but one collapsible, so I thought of them as a reliable company (despite printing and shipping from china). I would NOT recommend this for anyone. For the same price you can do much better.Look for flashpoint stands on Amazon sold by Adorama, some of them sell for $30. And buy this (or a similar clamp) separately and you’ll have a 10x better stand for roughly the same value. This will be a return for me.

Awesome and easy to use

I purchased this item together with a 5x6.5 pop up black and white screen to be used mainly indoor for portraits.The positive parts was the prompt shipping, packaging and condition it arrived in and the extra angle clip it came with.The stand was advertised just for this type of setup and Amazon sells it with a suggested pop up screen of mentioned dimension. I opted for a different pop up of the same size.Setting it up was no problem .The less positive and really so far my main issue is that when extended to hang the pop up screen vertically , as in full height, the stands tubes are just not rigid enough for this kind of setup. The upper pole had a significant forward bend in it as the screen hangs, to the point I was worried it would fall over. It did not however. One could say it works, but I can’t see how with use the pole or attachment will not fatigue over time. Putting up the screen makes me cringe each time wondering if it will break this time ?I have not really used it with the pop up in the horizontal position so I can’t comment if being lower will make it more rigid. I would assume so.I should also mention the pop up I’m using is indicated by the manufacturer as 5x6.5’ weighing ~5lbs.On the 2nd clip that’s provided, this is very nice of them indeed. But being cynical I have to wonder if that is due to frequent breakage as it’s made out of what feels like light weight plastic . Time will tell, in the mean time thank you for the extra part.Overall , for inside, none professional, maybe... anything else or outdoors with an ever so gentle breeze , look for something a lot more rigid and sturdy in my opinion.Hope this helps you a bit going through your criteria for your own use, needs and requirements as you make your selection.
