Surf Trucker - Black, One Size

I look like a dork in this hat but it is comfortable and keeps my head and upper face protected from the sun. No problems with chinstrap. Lightweight.

I bought this hat for protection while kite boarding this winter in the incredibly bright sun in Baja, Mexico. I never got a chance to use it but I guarantee it would not have withstood the first good crash or a turn in the spin cycle. We arrived last week and my wife wanted to try wearing it for a bike ride, she broke the buckle just putting the hat on without any undue force. The flexible male snap piece is attached to the buckle by two tiny points of plastic less than 1/16th inch thick each. Ridiculous! The ear flaps and straps are solid, the hat would be great if it had an adequate latching buckle on it. The buckle it came with is literally preposterous, I can't believe DaKine let this be sold in their name. I have now purchased 4 different surf hats from DaKine for kiteboarding and every one of them has a major problem. Some have really great shading brim design but have a simple sliding tensioner on lightweight straps that will not keep the hat tight on your head in high winds while kiting. I find it hard to believe it would hold for surfing either. I typically wear a size L hat but all of these run incredibly small and tight fitting even in the XL and XXL sizes, enough to give me a headache fatigue. This one was actually the best fitting with a universal ball cap back strap, I will try to find a buckle and sew it on. Now that we're here in Baja for the next six months there is no way to return it.

This is the best surfing product I've ever bought. It manages to protect your face (and ears!) from the sun without looking derpy af. Saves your eyes from glare. Doesn't come off if you wipe out. On the way to the surf, you can tuck the strap/buckle into the hat itself and wear it like a normal trucker hat. I have no idea why more companies don't make these - I hardly ever go surfing in the summer without this now. 10/10 recommend.

It is perfect for driving in my convertible without worrying about having my cap blown off. I am kinda tall behind the windshield and this cap works for me.

I gave it four stars, cause I kind of wish the brim were a little longer. This is a good hat that accomplishes it’s objective. It really helps keep the sun out of my eyes. I have blue eyes they are very sensitive to light, to the point of it being painful on bright afternoon sessions. This really helps with that.

It works but there are better hats out there in my opinion.

It broke after two months of occasional use

Stayed on my head through hours of surfing and duck diving. Kept my head and ears from getting sun burnt. Looks good too. I originally bought this hat to help secure sunglasses on my face while surfing and it worked great at keeping the neck strapped sunglasses from slipping off my head.

Buckle broke the first time I used it :(
