Does not connect to broadband easily
It fails to connect to the ATT wireless network out of the box. I inserted a sim card, it has data paid, and hotspot doesn't connect to the internet. I have my phone next to the router, phone is able to connect to the router but router itself doesn't connect using sim card.SIM card works, I tested it by sending text messages to it. I was able to see those test sms on mywebui.net.I also inserted the card to the phone to test and I was able to get data.User manual is misleading. It says to install an app Nighthawk and after installation the app says it doesn't support this device.User manual says ask community for support.I had to register with Netgear, spent lots of time waiting for an agent to chat, then more time to troubleshoot the router. It took half a day total to fix it.I had to connect the phone to the router that didn't have internet connection. Then on the phone with no internet connection went to ROUTERLOGIN.NETentered admin login for the router. Then poked around, got to Settings> Router>BASIC>DNS and set it from automatic to manual. And then entered DNS 8.8.8.8 and another DNS 8.8.4.4After that router reloaded and connected to wireless. Why this is not in the user guide or manual?!! I downloaded the full manual and it is not there. Just because all these trouble I will give this device one star. This is the first day I use it and I am not sure how long it will last.

Works well but description is deceiving
The mobile hotspot I received was ATT branded and did not work with my Google Fi simcard out of the box. The system asks you to log in to ATT. You can ignore and then change the APN to Google Fi. I used it in the USA and all over Europe and it works exceptionally well. At some point in Europe I had 4G connectivity while my cell phone had nothing (on the same Google Fi account). Happy with the product once I got it working but the description is deceiving.

If you get an alert
Well the device is great, even though It wasn’t the one I ordered, I order one that says Netgear on the device, I received the one that said ATT logo. At first it took the SIM card from the other vendor ISP company, but it failed to connect to the WiFi internet, it gave me an alert that set check your settings. 🤔. I tired to contact Netgear, the SIM card vender, and even contact ATT support. What a waste of time, contacting these folks. I did research in the internet and I was able to fix the Alert. Apparently the device was still with the a ATT APN, I had to change it to the sim vender, which worked and got connected to the SIM card vender wifi internet. So folks if you brought a device like mine, once you are able to install the SIM card and get an alert first go to settings, look for APN and if it has the APN from the original vender, add the new APN from the sim vender, that will make it work for you. Over all the device works fast and able to get all bars meaning it get good and fast wifi internet connection.

Better than I hoped
Got it used and it was in better condition than I had though. It works great. Tested it with Google Fi phone sim and it was able to detect it after changing the settings on the device. It was able to register the google fi sim and get a signal without Gfi complete setup, but I finished the setup using my phone. I also signed up for Google data and am waiting for the sim to arrive to test.Currently happy with the product. The big test will be when I travel out of country. To be continued.——-Update (one month later): traveling out of the US and using the googlefi data sim. At first the sim didn’t want to connect, but after checking on the configuration and allowing roaming, it worked like a charm! Enjoyed having access in Germany, Belgium, and Netherlands. Glad I purchased it.

Doesn't work with AT&T 4G
It seemed good. Went to the local AT&T store to get a sim card and get set up, only to find that this device is NOT compatible with AT&T 4G. The rep in the store spend 2.5 hours with support trying to get it to work with no success. The support tech eventually concluded that this device is not compatible with AT&T 4G or 4G LTE. They put a ton of effort into it and were unable to get it working. That store had no AT&T hotspots and had encouraged me to get one on Amazon and then bring it in. I don't know if the problem was with the particular unit or with the AC797-100NAS in general. The description states is is compatible with AT&T but it was only able to connect via 3G, which AT&T is shutting off next February. The best we did was 4.8 Mbps download - horrible speed.I searched AT&T online and found a store that had TWO hotspots available. Most had none. I dashed over there with the SIM card I had bought for the other device, put it in the Unite Express 2, and it came up immediately on the 4G LTE network and the speed is blazing, plus it was $30 less than the Netgear. So, if you want to use AT&T then DO NOT BUY THE AC797-100NAS!
