Works perfectly. Get the right version for you.
Does exactly what it's supposed to. Note there are two versions... this is the "B" version, where the tip is Receive (RX) and the ring is Transmit (TX). There is also an "A" version where RX and TX are swapped. Check your equipment and get the right one for your application. Plugged into a Windows 10 system, no special drivers needed, came right up. FTDI chip.

Works as expected
I have several devices that use a 3.5mm plug for RS232 data at TTL levels. The devices were supplied with a 3.5mm to DB9 cable, which requires a separate USB to RS-232 DB9 adapter. This cable replaces both of those with a single cable that plugs into the USB port on the computer and into the 3.5mm jack on the device. The driver automatically loaded without issue and it just worked. It reduces cable clutter and simplifies my system.

Microsquirt to USB adapter. Works fine. Have used for 6months or so now. Seems to be good quality product for the money

Elecraft KXUSB Replacement? Simply switch ring and sleeve
My Elecraft KXUSB quit working. (It may have been damaged in an outboard USB power surge) After switching the ring and sleve with a DIY adapter, this USB to RS232 dongle has been working perfectly between Flex and KAT500 antenna tuner to follow the VFO.

Does not work with Dothill or Seagate Storage
I needed this to serial into a few Dothill and Seagate chassis' and it didn't work. It may work for other equipment.

I have been looking for a cable to control out cricket scoreboard for months now, and I finally found onw with a chip that works. Measures around 175cm and has a 3.5mm termination. While the USB-B end of the cable is quite large (6.8cm), the lights are quite visible (and are labled with Tx / Rx). You can use generic serial drivers for this cable. (Please note, if using with an FSL cricket scoreboard controller as with my scenario, you will need to placce the cable half way into the 3.5mm socket as the Tip and the Sleave need to be reversed to work with that console.)
