Jimmy Page: The Anthology

Fabulous
A fantastic insight into Jimmy Page's career by the man himself, supported by his amazing archive of items from letters to studio schedules to guitars to stage clothes to all sorts of paraphernalia. This is a man who is an absolute legend, not just of our time, but of all time, yet he is the most humble of people. His generous comments about everyone else are so heart warming. I recently read Steve Gorman's Too Hard to Handle and he is portrayed in that via Steve's stories as the most generous of people too despite being one of the greatest musicians that England has ever produced. "If you can walk with the crowd and keep your virtue, or walk with Kings, nor lose the common touch...".A mass of information casting new light on a subject that I thought I already knew so well. One fascinating example: an ATA carnet is pictured of Led Zeppelin's gear to enable it to be shipped out of England for touring and return without incurring any duty, from what appears to be 1975; Jimmy's #1 and #2 1959 Les Pauls are listed with a value at the time of £521. Today, those guitars are worth 1,000 times more and with Jimmy's provenance, run into £millions.Fascinating, beautifully photographed and produced, I couldn't find a single spelling mistake - all redolent of Jimmy's renowned attention to detail. Beautiful.

Outstanding
I have followed Led Zeppelin all my life and was lucky to see them in 1975 at Earls Court. Jimmy Page is one of the best guitarists in the world and this book is amazing

The real Jimmy Page....
At the age of 60 - and a long time fan of Jimmy - I feel I have discovered a totally different Man and formed a wholly different impression of the Man from the relatively terrible and badly written biographies over the years. I don’t recognize someone with an egocentrically superstar inflated ego. I see Man who is justifiably proud of what he has achieved in his influence on Music over the course of his career - and yet STILL bursting with new ideas on a seemingly daily basis which (although he doesn’t say so here) I feel he is frustrated at not being able to bring to the fore because of his fame and status within the Music industry. He was way ahead of his time in the 1960’s even as he cut his teeth as a session musician, and given the right context and release from the pressure and spotlight of his past achievements - he could be delivering more now. So frustrating knowing that there is still so much more potential in this Man.As for Led Zeppelin; in many ways it was a 12 year run - which Jimmy is still dedicated to mining for undiscovered gems - and we don’t mind that. I would have loved to have seen seen more reunions over the years - in spite of the very tragic loss of the greatest rock drummer of all time, Jon Bonham - but as a mere press-reading member of the public, Robert’s ego seems to me the primary block here. Jimmy was the originator, producer and primary writer responsible for the birth and success of the Band, but regardless of his own undoubted talents, it is as if Robert resents this truth. I have heard it say that Robert’s living chip on his shoulder is that knowing that when he walks into a room, Robert (in his own eyes) is the greatest rock artist in the World.......until Jimmy Page enters the room behind him. I wish Robert did not give me that impression. They were a great band - the perfect mix of highly talented individuals that resulted in the magic that was Led Zeppelin. And I am sure Jimmy would admit that - regardless of his overwhelmingly evidential contribution towards the establishment and development of the Band - he would not be where his is today without the Karma which brought these 4 amazingly talented individuals together - albeit (sorry, Robert) the magical catalyst being the very special, charismatic and highly gifted and musical visionary - Jimmy Page.Brilliant book.Simon Morgan

Incredible book on Jimmy Page, I'm really enjoying reading it, the format is excellent! The Photographs are great and Jimmy's little insights into his history just make it special.
