Pull Recoil Starter Assembly for Toro 6.5HP GTS 22IN Recycler Lawn Mower

Fit perfectly on my older mower

Needed a new starter rewind for my Craftsman leaf vacuum with 4.5hp Tecumseh engine. It was a perfect fit. It looks to be good quality, housing was metal and almost identical to my original starter rewind assembly. Installed with 2 screws just like the original. Although it didn't come with new screws, I just reused the original ones. I also carefully peeled off the Tecumseh logo sticker in center of original part and superglued it to the new one. Uncertain about the longevity of the new part but so far I've started it 5 times and no problems. So far so good. Will update later after putting some miles on it.

Not quite perfect, but my honey made it work

I have a 6.5 HP Toro GTS Recycler. This pull recoil starter assembly does not match / fit. The hardware holes do not align. After even trying to deal with it by drilling a new hole so that it would align with this assembly that I ordered, the cover does then not fit over everything (i.e. the recoil assembly and engine). If this were the right product, I'd probably be giving a five star rating.

It didn't fit my mower and the holes didn't line up. I had to cut a piece off to get the handle through the hole which I'm fine with. The screws didn't line up either. I got three back in but the one in the second picture is not flush. The screw to the left will not fit no matter what I did. However, in the end, with the adjustments it does work which is good enough for me and this old mower. **One year later update** I got the mower out and checked the fluids. Started it with no issues and kept going. I had to stop a few times and restart it. On the third one the cord came right out. This is probably a decent fix (band aid) for the season but don't expect it to last. It loses a star.
