Works Great
For some wild reason, my wife wanted a birdbath with a fountain. As a compromise, I ordered this thing and am very happy with it.Though the instructions aren't very clear, i was able to put it together (not too hard) and drop it into a birdbath. It immediately shot up water about a foot high. Unfortunately, even with a slight breeze, it dried out the 1.5 gallon birdbath in a short while. I opted for a nozzle that shot water sideways instead of up and that worked fine. Though it came with a wide variety of nozzles, I was unable to find one that shot water up only a few inches.Overall though, this product does what it claims to do and I am very happy with it.

love it but you do need to clean out the pump filer every once in a while
I have had a couple of these fountains and I love them. You do have to stop and clean out the pump filter. If you notice the water pressure seems low check out the filter on the pump. Its it easily removed and rinsed off and replaced. Also many people are complaining abot the fountain wandering all over inside a birdbath. I tried many things and ended up taking a tomato cage, find out which circle on the cage fits around the inside center of your birdbath and cut the circle out leaving metal sticking UP from the circle this way your fountain can float around but no further than the diameter of your metal circle.

Great stream of water but pay attention to bath diameter
On all settings the water jet, especially on sunny days is fantastic. But—-the jet is so vigorous it overshoots the 12” diameter bath I purchased on this site with the jet. Within an hour all the water was out of the fountain onto the soil. 2nd mistake: I cut the plastic sticks too short so it can’t be clamped in place (my fault not the product. I am unsure how to solve the water loss problem—keep it in the shade, buy a bigger waterbath, try reorder the plastic rod, don’t cut, and weight them down with rocks.

Works as described...almost!
This is tough because the fountain works pretty much as it is described and it has lasted over a year of basically non-stop, continual use during spring, summer and fall seasons in Ohio.We are using this in a 27" bird bath that gets full sun exposure for ~8 hours a day, then is partially shaded in the late afternoon and evening. So why only 3-stars? Primarily for understating the flaws...1. The note in the description about the spray height being directly related to the sunlight intensity is an understatement to say the least! The ONLY time you will see tall spray like in the pictures is when there is complete full sun exposure with absolutely ZERO obstruction. Slight haze from a humid summer day?...nope, that's not enough sun. Now, with that said, it does run when there is little to no sun, but it's just a trickle. That's enough to keep the water agitated, but not much else, and that has served it's purpose for us at least.2. The description mentions "a larger birdbath is recommended to prevent splashing out of the birdbath". Again, that's quite an understatement! We have what I would consider a fairly large bird bath at 27 inches in diameter, but on the rare occasions we have enough full sun, anything but the flat spray nozzle will result in most of the water being sprayed out of the bath onto the ground. If even a slight breeze picks up, then most of the water ends up on the ground and in a matter of minutes the bird bath is empty! So I'm not sure what bird bath would be big enough to use the other tall spray nozzles unless it's a small pond. Also, keep in mind that it floats, so it hardly ever stays in the exact center of the bath; so even with a huge bird bath, it would eventually float to the edge and you would end up with the same problem.3. Finally, the thing is a magnet for algae and debris. It's not necessarily hard to clean, but it does require frequent (basically daily) cleaning. Because the entire surface area of the fountain is in constant contact with the water, I think it also makes the water get dirty faster as well.4. I don't think the birds care about the fountain. They use the bird bath, but I have never seen them use the fountain's spray - partly because we use only the flat nozzle just to keep the water agitated and provide a little sound, and nothing more; so there is rarely any spray for them to play in.To sum up... we've been relatively happy with the fountain and the limited functionality that we get out of it, but are looking for other, non-fountain options that will run more consistently and have less surface area contacting the water, but still provide the sound and agitation we want. But if you have no wind and no clouds and a gigantic bird bath and don't mind taking it apart everyday to clean, this fountain will work for you!

Great product, works well....love it
this little fountain works perfect in my bird bath. the solar is powerful enough to keep it going and the stabilizers around the edge keep it centered, and the water in the bird bath. I really like this and the birds do too. I can tell because every once in awhile the birds get wild in there and detach the stabilizers. LOL they are easy to put back and it has only happened a time or two.

Works well, even when cloudy out
Works good in direct sunlight and even in slightly cloudy conditions. The changeable spray tips are an added bonus for windy conditions so that the water does not blow out of our bird bath. Can't wait to see the hummingbirds play in the water spray (they do this when I set up a gentle up spraying lawn sprinkler).

Figured out how to fix it!
The extra power is helpful. Better than the lower watt models. Only complaint is that is stopped working after a few weeks. Filter was clean. Sun was out. I was planning on returning it and then thought I'd just smack it on the concrete. A few hard taps on the concrete with the motor and it works again! So please try this. Don't smack the solar panel. Smack the motor. Birds are happy again!

Solar fountain pump...review updated...
06/16/25 Update: I increased the rating to 3 stars because the seller stood behind his product, contacting me with suggestions on ways to alleviate my issues with the item. I am always impressed when a seller shows that they care about the item they offer.Unless you like filling your bird bath (or whatever you put it in) 3 or 4 times a day, you should keep looking. The straws that are supposed to keep the water from the fountain inside your bird bath are too short (you can modify them but it looks kinda clunky). So the fountain slowly empties your bird bath over the sides as the pump shoots the water too high and far.And you absolutely *must* have it in full sunlight for optimal operation. However, as noted above, in full sunlight it shoots the water way up in the air and over the sides. In little sunlight, it just pulses the water...maybe an inch high and intermittently. The product description states there is no battery and that is correct...but that it is certainly *not* a good thing. There is no consistency of operation whatsoever...
