Bloomfield played like no body else... chewy, heartfelt blues guitar playing that really wasn't ever that fast or showy but twisted and stretched and syncopated the blues to keep the boredom far away. it's too bad there is so relatively little of this stuff to hear.This is a good but not great example. It's no "Mary Ann" from "The Live Adventures....", but it's got Bloomfeilds magic nonetheless. The overall pickens are sadly less than one might wish for, but when the great ones go far too early (like Michael and Danny Gatton), ya savor what yas are left with.,and say THANKS

Great buy 2 albums on 1 cd ive always love Mike Bloomfield and a friend recommened this and I love everything ive heard so far a must for all Bloomfield fans and blues lovers too.

Most all of Mike's playing are top of the line with just a few goof offs.

this is an excellent 2 for 1 deal.however cruisin for a bruisin may be recorded at the wrong speed.i have purchased it twice and both are speeded up.i have the lp and the difference is undeniable.the first half"hard place"is excellent.mike plays well.its live.

I bought these albums in the early 80's, when they were just out. Beteen a Rock and the Ground is Bloomfield at his most relaxed and loose setting, and it's LIVE also. It doesn't get any better than this. ENJOY!!

This was a Christmas gift for a good friend, who is also a musician. I have not heard the album, but my friend loved it.

Michael Bloomfield est un des meilleurs bluesmen blanc des années 70. Tout s'écoute chez lui, même si parfois le meilleur s'accole au moins bon, mais avec Bloomfield vous passez toujours un bon moment!!

Premier opus solo de Leon RUSSELL, sorti dans la foulée de la tournée "Mad dogs and Englishmen", présenté un peu comme un catalogue de son répertoire . La liste des participants couvrirait un carnet musico-mondain de l'époque (Beatles, Stones, Clapton, Winwood, Bramlett, Cocker bien sûr et j'en passe) .Le répertoire nous démontre que Leon RUSSELL était un très grand "songwriter" ("A song for you" repris par tant de gens dont Ray Charles, "Hummingbird" repris par BB King, "Delta lady" célébré par Joe Cocker, mais aussi les excellents "Dixie lullaby", "Shoot out on the plantation""Roll away the stone" et "Prince of peace" .La musique oscille entre rock''n'roll saignant, soul et gospel (baignant), produite avec l'aide du légendaire Glyn Johns qui a bien fait de laisser tomber la physique nucléaire pour se consacrer à la production musicale .Le premier et le premier seulement d'une liste d'excellents albums comme on n'en fera plus ...

Que dire de plus ? Michael BLOOMFIELD a un jeu très particulier, très mélodique, mais chante quand même comme une casserole, il faut l'avouer. C'est dommage, parce quue la musique est excellente. Mais c'est comme pour Roy BUCHANAN : on préfèrerait qu'il se contente de jouer de la guitare.
