Okay so I feel kind of silly giving this pepper spray a review since I've never used it on some sorry ass b****. But the reason why I give it a five-star review is because I have two cans of this stuff that is long outdated, I mean several years out of date, so I finally tested the outdated stuff by spraying it into my garbage can and closing the lid and waiting about 30 seconds. Then I went back and opened the lid of the garbage can and just took a very small whiff and my eyes and throat burned for the next 4 or 5 hours. So I figure if it can be several years out of date and still be that strong, and it must be some pretty damn good stuff. So I just bought myself two more fresh cans and now I'm very confident that if anyone forces me to defend myself, they are going to be s*** out of luck, If you know what I mean. So the reason why I bought this particular pepper spray in the first place is because I did extensive research on YouTube where people were doing Hands-On testing by spraying it in the face of people who agreed to do this, and they tested it against all these other popular brands (Sabre and others which I can't remember the names of) and this Fox labs five point three what's the most potent s*** on the market. So when the test subjects would get sprayed by all these other brands, they hated it but they were still able to carry on with whatever they were doing. But when they got hit by this fox labs stuff, they couldn't do anything but drop to their knees in excruciating agony. And the canisters are built very well because I carried this stuff in my pocket with change and keys and all kinds of stuff for years and I was constantly fumbling in my pocket and playing with the lid flipping it up and down all the time and this stuff stayed perfectly intact and operational all that time.

I've carried Fox 5.3 for about 15 years. I buy a new can every year so the potency is always fresh. Whats twenty bucks when its your personal safety in question? I have used the one pound magnum pistol grip fog and the 1.5 ounce stream. I have used this many times (20+) on people, rabid pitbulls, various aggressive forest wildlife and myself. I have tried about ten different pepper sprays over the years. Each time, I spray myself in the face to see how well it works. When I got my first can of Fox 5.3, I quit trying any other brand. This stuff is absolutely the most painful spray I've ever tried. Good God. It has never let me down, always discharges a good distance, and neutralizes the offender. I've never had to get physical or pull my big Cold Steel knife on anyone thanks to this spray. This will quite possibly save your life or at the very least a big court date. This is for true self defense ONLY and should never be used in an offensive manner. Read up on your local laws regarding pepper spray and make sure it is legal in your particular jurisdiction and the areas you travel to. If you have to use it, always make sure to arrange your situation such that the wind is to your back. You dont want any blow back. My only regret was that I tried the magnum one-pound canister in the fog spray. It leaves a big cloud of spray hanging in the air and if anyone has an open window, walks or drives by, they become a secondary victim to the incident. The fog is meant for crowd control and thats all. The stream is much more effective on direct attackers. I've never tried the cone spray. Aim for the face. Squirting someone on the chest might give them a minor inconvenience but the face is where you want to hit 'em for full effect. Aim for the eyes, nose and mouth. Run. Then call 911. If someone has a hard time breathing after you spray them, even if it is true self defense, you can still be held liable for their safety. Been there, done that, many times. I have always come out on top while carrying Fox pepper spray. Highly recommended.

5.3 brand oc is the absolute best for LEO and Security when you hsve to use it, I recommend the stream tho as you will get backlash from spray and the gel and easily get slung back onto you. Ive used 5.3 since 2007 in my career never failed me, very potent and stoppable OC. I choose it over Red Sabre OC

As mentioned in a previous review, I test fired an assortment of pepper sprays from different manufacturers once. The catch? All of the cannisters were far beyond expiration at 6 to 7 years old. As we all know, pepper spray should be replaced every 3 years. This gives the consumer a very good opportunity to fire the outdated canisters simply to see the spray pattern, to see how it performs in various conditions (e.g. wind), and to determine how many 2-second bursts a canister will produce. In my unofficial test, 3 of 4 brands that were far past their respective expiration dates hardly fired, or the liquid simply dribbled out of the spray nozzle. Only Fox brand pepper spray fired at full blast, terminating only when the pepper solution was completely spent. Ever since conducting that experiment a decade ago, I replace my Fox canisters (1 for each car, 3 for the house and 1 for each family member) every 3-5 years, and we always test-fire all expired canisters. In all instances, the expired Fox canisters perform as new (yes, I've even fired a couple new canisters as well, for comparison). The people at Fox have the best product on the market, and it's no wonder that the brand is widely used by the police as well. If good enough for the police, it's certainly good enough for me; my family and I trust our lives with this product.

Pros: -The company and formulation have good reviews. -The larger size may be more effective against multiple assailants. -Stream is less likely to get in the user's eyes than fog/cone, can be more effective than gel, and would be better for indoor or home applications. -The flip top safety is personally preferable to the spin type some others use (more secure, easier to use). Cons: -There's little in the way of ergonomics or tactile queues. In low light or stress manipulating and aiming may be challenging. -The can is missing the exact warning phrasing required under California's "tear gas" laws (CA PC 22810 (e)(2)). I just wrote it on a label and stuck it on. I've yet to hear of this being an issue, but it's still something to consider. Requirements vary by state.

I was told that this is the hottest pepper spray available on the market by my major from the olden days in which I was undergoing training to become a correctional officer. Since I worry alot about my younger cousin who lives upstate, we grew up together so she's more like a sister/a best friend/+ a cousin so of course I love her to death! 💀💕 I personally really liked how portable the pepper spray looked. I also trust my old major's judgment to be ironclad, so I know (in an emergency) that this pepper spray will preform as it should and will protect my cousin from danger. The pepper spray isn't too big, so it can fit easily enough in the her purse, inside a glove compartment, in the overhead spot where she puts her sunglasses, or on the driver's side where the door has plastic pockets. This spray nozzle is a steam, so a steady arm is necessary for the best accuracy. Although, with spraying down an assailant I think the stream type is best since the spray back will be less prominent. When it comes to having to decontaminate it's best to keep a dawn dish soap bottle around (unfortunately, it's what works the best *don't use dawn if you have coconut/palm allergies) milk will only make it worse so stay away from all milks when decontaminating since it'll just clog your pores and make it worse (don't believe that myth!) the only other alternative was dove soap but (from my own time of being tear gassed as well as from when I was helping to decontaminate students after they're pepper sprayed during training) regular dawn dish soap is your best bet if you want to decontaminate quickly and efficiently.

This stuff has hang time and I strongly recommend you wear gloves if you use it, because even washing hands multiple times with multiple materials will not render you safe from accidentally going to chew on your nails a couple days later and finding out that you no longer need salsa for your tacos.
