Beautiful Book, with Truly Ugly Examples. 2.5 stars
This book is one of the most beautiful books that I have seen in a long time. The photos are exquisite. The knifed sample are shown in great detail. Her instructions are well- written and easy to understand. But the sweater styles combined the ugly yarns used make me want to return this book. Couldn't the author afford better yarn. Who would wear a skirt or shorts as unattractive as shown in this book. Did the author actually research the target market for this book? It is it a "look at me" book, where the author shows the reader her incredible skills and vast collection of samples and notions. I thave both of Amy herzog' snooks and I perceive they are a far better value. This book is akin to a coffe table book for knitters and wanna-be knitters

Perfect-fitting sweater lessons from a master.
Have just dipped into this book which I got for Christmas and love it already. Deborah addresses all the nuances and variety of the human body, not just the general outline of hourglass, rectangle or pear shape. Depth of arm from shoulder to underarm, neck width, variation of width between front of body vs. back, are all considered and much more. No wonder she has been so perennially successful. She considers everything. I recommend this book to anyone interested in improving the quality of their garment knitting with each successive project, particularly sweaters, that they make.

Accurate information
For those of us who couldn't get a handle on how to fit our knitting this is a godsend.Deborah Newton explains how and (more important) why these skills are so important. Truly one of the best books you can have to improve your skillset. The patterns are really impressive and I am working on one of them now.

I love the way the author explains things
I love the way the author explains things. She divulges a wealth of information to genuinely equip you to achieve the right fit in your knitwear. I was more eager to buy this book after reading the reviews on Amazon and getting it is certainly the right choice. I really love this book and it's a staple in my knitting library.

Good to have perfect projects
I have just started reading this book, but I like it very much. Tips are excellent and easy to understand. A must for any knitter's library.

Needs a chapter on gauge to really be able to fix fitting problems.
I was very disappointed that there wasn’t a whole chapter on gauge with sections on swatching strategies for different types of knitting including textures, cables, stranded and in the round and a section on how to adjust a pattern based on a slight difference in gauge beyond go up or down a size of needle.

Must have book
This book is everything I had hoped it would be. Knitting garments will be so much less stressful knowing you will end up with a garment that fits. This is a must have book for knitters.

Women only?
Very well-laid out book, some nice patterns, very useful information. But one big minus: they are all female patterns and information on female measurements. The author has thereby excluded half the population, males who might want knitwear that fits their body. The author has thereby excluded the not so small number of male knitters.Happens very often in knitting books and as a male knitter I am rather frustrated about it.

That's covered beautifully, but given the title
A very interesting book, but it's not for beginners. It jumps in at a more advance level. That's covered beautifully, but given the title, I expected more help with Step 1 - a discussion on how to count stitches when doing a swatch. Do I do it in garter stitch? In the stitch I'm using most in the garment? Should I knit a number of stitches and measure later, or should I try to knit 4 inches and see if I have too few or too many? Should I measure from the edge, or choose a middle section? If I use the edge, do I count the edge narrow edge stitches? If I use a middle portion and it's not 1x1 ribbing, how best to keep track of the number?I find counting stitches very challenging, and without a good grasp of swatching the rest of it is kinda useless. Otherwise the content is amazing.
