Augustine Classic Red - Medium Tension

I bought these medium tensions for an old classical guitar, I probably should have purchased the high tension and will do so next. These are ideal for guitars with lighter tops if you want to reduce string tension and a tendency for the top to show some slight lifting. I think that for projection and power, the high tension strings are probably better but I'm happy with the tone these produce. Not overpowering but balanced and predictable. These strings seem to not vary from pack to pack and that's important to me. Placing them on a guitar made in the 1940's seemed obvious, though I think now the guitar could have handled their high tension strings as well. A long time standard for a lot of players.

I've tried many different strings over the years and these are the best sounding and feeling by far imo. The other Augustine strings are very good too if you prefer a different tension. There may be better out there, but I've probably tried them if they were less than $30 a set and I keep running back to these.

I've used these for years on my classical guitars and they really have the perfect balance of smooth feel and bright tone. My favorite part is changing the strings out because when they are loose it feels like you are playing with metal thats been turned into silk. The sound and playability on the top priority though and for me these have it in spades. The medium tension isn't as bright as the tighter ones of course but for me these have a very balanced warmth and brightness.

This is a good string with good tone. However, i do think the quality and durability is poor compared to other competing brands with same prices. That's why i gave 3 stars. If you want to use this strings for a short amount of time, these are great strings for a classical guitar.

I was looking for some color treble strings set. The package and description say red, black and blue but they all are clear nylon strings. They're just name/model of the strings. Sounds as good as the D'Addario strings. Wish the description was more clear.

These strings really changed the tone of my somewhat inexpensive classical style acoustic guitar. After removing the stock strings and using these it was like I upgraded the instrument. They definitely take a couple days to stretch-in but after that the instrument stays in tune unless I have some big temperature variations in the room. I am happy with this purchase. However, when I replace these strings I will probably try some polished strings to try to eliminate any finger movement sounds.

Simply the best strings that you can buy for nylon-string guitar. I will never use anything different. They've got Segovia's endorsement, so you know they're good.

Après avoir testé plusieurs marques de cordes nylon... je reviens toujours vers les AUGUSTINE tension normale (médium) : Il s'agit d'une valeur sûre . Aigus et graves bien marqués. Bonne longévité des cordes (je joue tous les jours 10 à 15 minutes minimum). Temps de rodage de la tension très bon . Je les installe sur Yamaha classique C80 et sur Yamaha Guitalélé GL1 (pour mes escapades !)... bonnes cordes.... bonnes guitares ... un parfait mélange aux tarifs fort sympa.
