great product!
Granted i was skeptical of this at first, i don't believe a lot i see on TV. All i can say is wow, this things works awesome and fast (for knifes that have an angle that is close, if not it just takes a little longer to get it roughed in) I sharpened my first knife in about 15 min, getting use to the machine and holding everything correctly. after that is was about a min or two per knife. I did about 15 roughing them all in and then honing them all after that. i had one knife that took about 15-20 because the angle of the blade was to great and I was hitting the sides first before i got it to the point. it even sharped my friends big meat cleaver. All my knives are much sharper and they hold there edge longer. i use to spend 30+ min a knife sharpening them to get them razor sharp. now i can do it in a matter of min from start to finish

High Hopes, Definitely takes skill
If you do buy this unit, it is well made... But, practice by buying a few cheap knives to get the hang of it. I fortunately started on a cheap knife, did great, went to an expensive one, made a mistake that didn't seem possible, took off enough of the blade coating in the process to make myself scared of this unit for a month or two. This is definitely a great setup, once you get the hang of it... I'm not a newbie to sharpening, but I am a newbie to belt sharpening with guides. I like the diamond hone in this kit the best so far, but maybe I'll regain my trust and build some skill with this unit.OVERALL, it sharpens kitchen knives razor sharp, but with the 'hunting' knife sharpening attachment, you'll have to be careful, take your time and learn what blade grinds aren't a good idea to run through this unit before making your precious FOX Cuttlery(FKMD) knife ugly and like it's seen some sort of strange combat. :'(

Nice looking but as I was sorting theough bulk it ...
Nice looking but as I was sorting theough bulk it acts up and down. Takes three or four times the sorting bec I had to reset several times before getting the weight then having to double check. Over and over. Awkward.

Didn't perform up to expectations on older filet knives. New (unused) knives were kept sharp though.
Not overly impressed yet. Went on a week long fishing trip in Canada and fileted up a lot of fish - constantly looking for a sharp filet knife. This tool didn't really perform very well on the older (long ago dull) knives - wouldn't get them sharp enough to even cut through the skin of walleye. It did work well on new (unused until this trip) knives - it keep them sharp pretty nicely.I probably buy it again at a sharply discounted price. There's no way I'd pay anywhere near the suggested list price of 200.00 though.

Not For Me.....
If you have a drawer full of older knives that simply need a good sharpening; then this well-made product will suffice and I think you will be pleased. Equally, yard tools and lawnmower blades can no doubt be sharpened to your satifaction. However, if you are like me and many of your blade stock includes Benchmade, Spyderco and other higher end cutlery, then you probably won't like this tool.Yes, I watched the included DVD segment and diligently practiced on a couple of plain edge steak knives that had been sitting in the back of a kitchen drawer. I also tried the Work Sharp on a larger military field knife. My results were just OK, nothing more and this was after several minutes were devoted to each blade. And unfortunately, I ground off too much steel at the point of an old Case Shark Tooth. I knew to lift the blade from the device just before the tip hit the belt, but because of the sharp sweep or narrowing of the blade, I damaged the tip anyway because the included guilde does not take into account the height of the particular blade near the tip--very narrow blades tend to twist in the guide. No problem with straight blade, but contours are not treated well. The concept here is good but you'll find the Work Sharp is not the end-all to sharpening your blades, especially your higher-end, "carry" knives.

My Husband's New Best Friend
I purchased this for my husband's Birthday after he saw it demonstrated at a Field and Stream Store. The actual demonstration was on Gerber knives but they were sharpening them with this unit. We asked them about how it worked and they spoke very highly on it. If they were repeatedly using to sharpening their expensive Gerber knives and customers knives on it, we know it had to be a great product.Once he got it and he could not wait to try it. He went and got every knife and scissor he could find in our house. He first started with hunting knives he had for 30+ years that he could never get sharp again. He tried it with the sandpaper that was installed P80 and that really did not do anything. He started getting disappointed. He switched the paper to the P220 grit and it sharpen a little but it still would not shave hairs off his arm. He decided to try the P6000 grit and now I could see sparks flying! Now he could shave hairs off his arm and slice a piece of paper in the air. Most of his knives were bent and out of whack from him trying different kinds of sharpeners to get them sharp. The Work Sharp milled them down back straight and you could see the shine where the new sharp edge was grooved in. He changed back to the P200 grit and sharpen the other knives and scissors that were not as badly dull. After about 20 knives and 5 scissors we could hardly tell there was any use on the sand papers. The included storage/carrying bag is nice to keep everything in one place. The only thing that we found useless was the field guided Retractable Honing Rod. I attempted to use and found it to be too short and skinny to really glide the knife on it.Now my hubby is probably going to offer to sharpen everyone's hunting and pocket knives in the neighborhood.Comes with a one-year warranty.
