Liberty Garden 4000-ORING Replacement Kit O-Ring, Black

I had a big box special 4 wheeled hose cart that I got about 3-4 years ago. It was starting to leak like a sieve around the hose connector and and transition pipe. I tried replacing the grommets in the hoses themselves, that that wasn't the leaking point, it was the swivel connector to the main pipe going into the hose reel assembly. The connection looked very similar to the Liberty Garden Product, so I took a chance thinking that this was probably a pretty standard Chinese manufacturer design. I was luckily right. Removing the cotter pin wring was the hardest part. I used to have a specialized tool for this, but given you use tools like that once every 5 years, good luck finding it again. So needle nose pliers and a few foul words later, I could pull the brass housing off. Sure enough, both rubber rings were dried out. I simply replaced with the new rings, put a little dish soap on the wrings, and found it much easier to slide the brass housing back into place. Remember the dish soap, it'll save you a lot of time and headache because you don't want to pinch and rip the new rubber rings like I did the first time. Now my hose real cart is back to being leak free. Too bad the Georgia summers have faded out the paint, but I'll live with having many more years of value out of my hose reel cart for less than a tenner.

My old o-ring has worn down and this was the replacement I needed and I appreciated the extra clip just in case mine went flying off into the yard. It's a little tight but it will allow it to last a bit longer.

I ordered the default item, which matched my model numbered & didn't notice the OTHER option, until I ruined 3 of the brand new O rings. I originally thought somehow, the incorrect size was in the package. As it turned out, there are 2 different O-ring sets available. I had ordered a set for the aluminum swivel (which was the default, when searching for the part on my model number), instead of the set for the brass swivel. The O-rings are slightly different. My mistake, so waiting on the correct set now. Keeping the first set, so I'll at least have the extra spring clip for future use.

This kit fixed the leaks i had at the swivel joint on my hose reel. I'm giving it only 3 stars because the metal snap ring sent with the kit was too big and would not fit inside like the old one. Good thing I saved the old one I had. But the O-rings did fix the leak, so all was good.

I have had my liberty hose reel for over 6 years. It is mounted to the bricks on the outside of my home. I was pleased to find replacement parts readily available. My reel is in full sun and has not faded the least bit. This will be my second set of rings and I am about to purchase a replacement handle because the rubber grip finally crumbled and fell off. This product will last for many years to come.
