Waterproof Ink Skin Marker - Black

So after getting a replacement, I am happy to put this up to 5 stars. The product really does work very well. The manufacturer indicated they were working on a new design, and that you need to carefully twist off the top on the current version. The pen writes clearly, and stays on through the entire swim meet easily. It takes a little work with soap to get it off, but that should be expected since stays on so well in water (rubbing alcohol also takes it off). I could also recommend it for marathoners and triathletes based on how well it works. (recommendation for manufacturer - for smaller kids a smaller tip could be helpful for an alternative product) (Original Review) So, I am torn in writing this because at the first swim meet it worked awesome, worthy of 5 stars. However at the second meet, we went to pull the top off and the entire top of the pen came off, spilling ink everywhere (my daughters entire leg was black for the meet). I would love to recommend the pen, but since it failed I am rating it as two stars.

This product worked quite well for me. Lasted through multiple 4-10 mile mud runs with minimal smudging. I did side by side tests and the Sharpie marks were almost non-existent at the end of a race, but this product showed hardly any wear. Yet, with a little soap and water it came right off. No adverse effects or any sign that anything was there. My only complaint is that the mechanism for loading the pen tip with more ink is a little touchy and can drip if you're not careful. Best to do this on a different surface than that which you are marking.

Update: Take your Mark contacted me about my review and informed me there was a batch of bad markers that made it out that were not of the quality level and they did resolve the the issue. They offered to send me a replacement marker and a few additional items. I checked the new Pen and it appears to be of better quality, I've only used it a few times and no issues. I was happy to see they have some good customer service who follow up with the issues and I'm willing to let things go as a bad batch. My only concern would be that you check your marker when it arrives carefully outside or in a sink to make sure your marker isn't a defective one. As a result I'll move to 4 stars.. it's a great product and nice to see someone offering a product that is safer that a sharpie on your kids skin. I received the pen and as soon as I went to take the cap off, the whole front of the pen came off from the body throwing ink all over my hands, shirt, shorts, shoes, the wall and floor and since it's semi-permanent and dries very fast it was a nightmare to clean up especially in cracks of the hardwood floors. Do not buy this product unless you want this issue. I guess if they built a properly sealed pen it would work, but this is a defective design. I guess I have to keep using a sharpie for the swim meets.

I was extremely disappointed by this product which exploded its black ink all over my kitchen the first time I tried to open it. The waterproof ink took over an hour to remove from my tile and cabinets and stained the grout. DO NOT buy this extremely poorly constructed pen!

Item arrived looking very old and tattered, like it was laying at the bottom of a warehouse for years and getting repeatedly run over with carts. Aesthetics aside, this product *works* well.

Tip is excessively large - too large to fit my kid's 4-5 swim events on his skinny little arm! He also said the pen scratches as it writes. I still like the the ink is non toxic versus sharpies.

I used this to write on my arm when I ran my first marathon. Despite being in the sun for six hours, sweating, and dumping water on myself, it didn't budge. So much so that when i finished I had sunburn around what had been written with the marker. It did come off as soon as I washed it with soap in the shower though as promised. A great product.

I bought this markers so my daughter would stop using sharpies to draw on herself. They worked very well, and it does wash off much easier than sharpies. Since I'm not using it for the intended purpose, I cannot recommend it for water sports, as we are using it just for fun.
