Core function is awesome, everything else is poor.
It's core function of providing a powerful vent hood over a stove is excellent. It moves a lot of air and does so relatively quietly. The fans and hardware build quality, while not up to commercial standards, are generally good.On the other hand, the touch screen interface is atrocious. It takes multiple touch screen "key" presses to do what should be a single, simple operation (turn on the fan or turn on the light). You first have to touch the on/off "button" and then you are given the option of turning on the light or turning on the fan (and it requires multiple button presses to set the fan to the level you want). Compounding the problem is that you have to wait between each button press because it is a capacitive touch panel with the generally slow responsiveness that they have. Also, despite the fact that the "off" state and the "on but nothing running" state using exactly the same amount of power, you can't just leave it in the "on" state perpetually. Within a minute it will switch back to the "off" state. There are lots of other interface quirks that are less offensive but still annoying; can't turn off the chime sound effect, won't stay in the clock set mode for more than a few seconds without a keypress which is annoying when trying to sync up the time more precisely, and also why can't I just disable the clock entirely (do I really need a visible clock on every device in my kitchen?).Beyond the interface, as others have said, this is a royal pain to install because of where the screw holes are placed (I should have just drilled my own like others did), the one I got was missing the instructions, one of the m4 screws had fallen out at some point in refurbishment or shipping (and was also missing) and the transformer buzzes incessantly (and loudly) unless I place a shim in just the right place. I'm guessing that the buzzing transformer is why it was returned in the first place and the fact that this was never dealt with says poor things about the quality control of the refurbishers. Why is this even using a transformer which wastes energy rather than an inexpensive switch mode power supply, beyond trying to save ~$3 per unit sold? Beyond that, the strapping tape used to keep things from rattling around in the package leaves a horrible mess on the stainless steel.I left a message asking if any of this could be dealt with this but never got a reply so I'm not impressed with the (non-existent) customer service either.Part of me wants to rip out the microcontroller control on this and replace it with my own interface with physical buttons but this is a non-trivial task for another time when I'm not in the process of getting my new (to me) home into a state that I want to live in it. Some day this will happen though.

Powerful!!
This fan is very powerful. It sucks up every bit of smoke when frying a steak. It is quite heavy so installation can be a little tricky. I would suggest two helpers to hold it up, although I used a car jack on my stove. Noise level is very good considering two fans with powerful motors. You cannot change the brightness of the LED lights

Defective, parts keep falling
I ordered this refurbished hood for my kitchen due to its great review. The product was sold out everywhere so I had resort to a refurbished one. It appears we received a defective item. The exhaust noise even at level 1 starts asking the entire kitchen hood and the cabinets above. One of the part that’s covers the residue collection keep falling down. Because of our delayed construction we weren’t able to return it on time.I do not recommend this product. It’s better and safer to wait and buy a new one. Within just a few months of purchase we are already in the market for a new hood

You get what you pay for
Overall I’m satisfied with the purchase. However, there should be a better QC at the refurbishing department cause mine was missing the dampers, a heavy electrical piece had fallen out of the bracket which was only held with 1 out of 4 screws.Good thing I’m good at fixing things so that wasn’t a big issue. Just letting y’all know, you get what you pay for.Update: The one I bought doesn’t have an auto-delay shut off according to the product description. I don’t see the instructions in the user manual either. Dropping another star.
