The 14th season of the show was the third for the popular Fourth Doctor (Tom Baker). The Doctor and Sarah Jane Smith (Elisabeth Sladen) find themselves in 15th-century Italy, where they must prevent a living energy source from using an underground cult to conquer the Earth while dealing with a planned palace coup, in "The Masque of Mandragora." When Sarah Jane (in her last regular appearance) comes into possession of a mysterious fossilized hand-which soon comes into possession of her-the Doctor will have to free her from the control of an alien criminal genius, in "The Hand of Fear." Then, while on the Time Lords' home planet of Gallifrey, the Doctor is arrested and charged with killing the president. Can he prove his innocence and catch "The Deadly Assassin"? In "The Face of Evil," the Doctor gets to correct a past mistake and gains a new companion, the warrior woman Leela (Louise Jameson), when he saves a primitive tribe of humans from a mad computer. Trapped aboard a massive mining vehicle on a desert world, the Doctor and Leela are accused of murder and uncover the plans for a rebellion of mechanized workers, in "The Robots of Death." Finally, in "The Talons of Weng-Chiang," the Doctor and Leela are in Victorian London, where they discover that a sinister magician is serving as the front for a murderous time-traveler. 26 episodes. Review: Tom Baker is the definitive DR Who - The best Dr Who of all. Tom Baker played the Dr for seven amazing years. yes, alot of the special effects were hokey, but writing and the acting are great. I missed these shows growing up, so watching them the last couple of years have been a real treat. There are lots of awesome extras, interviews with thee actors, etc. also included o on the disks. Review: Good Compilation and Extras - These Blu ray season collections are terrific! I especially like the episodes where the FX have been improved.

Dr. Who - Tom Baker years
Tom Baker as Dr. Who is and always will be the best actor to play the part. Haven't seen these episodes since I first started watching the series; four decades ago. Glad I made the purchase.

Blu-ray transfers good. Excellent extras.
I found the blu-ray transfers to be good. I'm not an expert on video though so I don't really know how to compare them in depth to the DVD editions (which I did have previously). Excellent extras, you essentially get all the extras that were on the DVD editions plus more that only come on the blu-rays. I had all the DVD editions except for Sylester McCoy and I only found 3 extras in all of them that weren't present in all of the blu-ray "complete" editions.

Who? Doctor Who for You!
Tom Baker, before the revival was THE Doctor for most Americans, and this collection does not disappoint. I bought it because I want the physical media, streaming today, not streaming tomorrow, causes a lot of sorrow. So having a copy is wise.

Great Content, poor packaging.
This is one of the best seasons of Doctor Who and it looks great on Blu-Ray. Special note goes to the exterior scenes of Masque of Mandragora which looks great. Many of the episodes included here are must have, such as Hand of Fear and The Deadly Assassin. However, as I have set in my other Doctor Who Blu-Ray reviews, the packaging of this set leaves a lot to be desired. Due to the cheapness of the inner trays, the discs fall out of their places easily leading to risk of scratching.

More classic who
PBS never ran the stories in order and often interrupted them but then again the doctor is a time travelling alien so, " time wimey wibblie wobbly" still great in some episodes but hey BBC why no episode guide??

Continuing to enjoy
This is the fifth set of Classic Doctor Who on Blu-ray I've bought in recent months. They are brilliant. I love the large amount of extras and appreciate they are all subtitled. I share these with my elderly mother who often doesn't watch extras because they often don't have captions or subtitles. So far all the shows and extras on these sets have subtitles

Asome Tom Baker episodes for season 3. Well worth the money. I fell in love with Elizabeth Sladen when I was a child and I was very sorry to see her leave, but what can you say, life. I can't wait for season 2 of the Tom Baker series of Dr. who, those were outstanding. Watching the show makes me homesick for the 1970s, and the scfi plats still hold up, it still a good show to buy for adults and kids. God Bless you Tom Baker and BBC. You don't need millions of dollars and a super expensive cast of actors to tell really good entertaining, outstanding stories, just imagination, skill and tallant. Netflix could learn something from watching one or two Tom Baker Dr. Whos.

Creepy atmospheric stories, Doctor Who at it’s best, although the less said about the giant rat the better, however you can watch the stories with modern effects instead if you wish

I bought this set primarily out of nostalgia, and found the standard of the stories somewhat variable. The Masque of Mandragora and The Robots of Death are very good, the latter having added resonance in the age of AI, but the outstanding story in this collection is , of course, The Talons of Weng-Chiang. It really is head and shoulders above the others, a superbly written and realized tale atmospherically set in Victorian London, and certainly one of the high points in Doctor Who's long history. In all the episodes Tom Baker is superb.
