Bug Zapper Mosquito Killer Indoor and Outdoor Fly Zapper Half Acre Coverage

Update December 2024: The unit suddenly stopped working (I live in a warmer climate and have mosquitoes year round). Noticeably fewer mosquitos until then.Original:I live in an area that has a good amount of mosquitos each summer, to the point where I usually need to spray outside in addition to having a zapper inside the house. That other zapper burnt out last year, so I decided to look for a different brand and found this one - I put this zapper outdoors before the mosquito season started and didn't need to bother with a spray at all this year because it was so effective! Highly recommended.

My front entry door is set back from the front of my house at the end of an 15-20 foot long outside covered ,open air hallway . The heat & humidity attract the fricking ,annoying ,pesky disease carrying mosquitos and other flying bugs, bees , gnats , flies, etc. I had another bug zapper set on top of a 18" high end table right next to the front entry door. That cheap, no quality useless item stopped working within 30 days of purchase. I got this B & D Outdoor Electric UV pest killer. The bluish /purplish UV light light attracts the little suckers and zaps them DEAD DEAD DEAD. I just clean out the debris tray inside the base of the zapper. It just kills 'em DEAD DEAD DEAD. Easy, breezy - no fuss , no muss. I for sure will get another one when this one when needed. I may get another one for the back entry door. I'd highly recommend this item. Quality and it works VERY well !!! A VERY satisfied consumer....

So I will start by saying this has significantly reduced the bug population around my porch. That being said, the cord is only 36 inches long and starts 16.5 inches from the bottom of the zapper. This means if your plug is below the spot you plan to hang the device approximately half the length of the cord is wasted leaving only about 1.5 feet from the bottom of the zapper to get to an outlet.

After two months of constant use I can say hands-down this is the best bug zapper I have ever owned. It works great! As a tip, I can tell you how I clean it, because if you don’t keep it clean it won’t zap any bugs. After turning the unit off and unplugging it, I spray the unit and the interior UV light using a can of compressed air. After I have blown off all debris (dead bugs) I turn it back on and plug it back in, and it’s working great again!! If you plan on using the can of compressed air to clean it as I said I do, please make sure the unit is off and unplugged because if you don’t, the can of compressed air (gas) will ignite/explode when it hits the UV lights and you don’t need that!! Remember, you’re cleaning it to kill the bugs, not yourself😉

Junk, junk, JUNK!I purchased 3 of the Black & Decker bug zappers. In LESS than avyear, NONE of the 3 work anymore.I also have a 6 year old Stinger brand that is still going strong. I guess I'll have eat the purchase price for these 3 Black & Deckers and find more Stingers.

We have a private camp property. We're near a cottage'y area, but our property is a bit set apart from there others, where there is not much other light nearby. So when we have a light on at night, inside or out, every bug within a couple acres is on it like white on rice! Certain times of the year this is really problematic, as we couldn't even get into our camper at night without bringing a couple dozen flying friends in with us. We purchased this bug zapper because of the good reviews, and that it is an outdoor unit. The instructions say it can withstand most outdoor conditions, and only needs to be brought in during torrential rains. The instructions also explain to set it up away from where people congregate, to draw the bugs away from that area. So we added a shepherd's hook to our electric box area, and plugged it in and hung it up there, away from our outdoor sitting area and camper doors. As soon as we plugged it in, ZAP. And the ZAPS just kept on coming! One issue we did have is after the first night, the lightbulb was complete PLASTERED with SO MANY BUGS. This is good, but also bad, in that they're supposed to fall to the ground (we removed the bottom tray). So we used the brush the light came with to clear the bulb. But we certainly didn't want to have to do that every day. After a few nights of use, the bugs started sticking less, and dropping more. Perhaps the bulb just needs a little bit of wear-and-tear for the bug corpses to fall off more easily. So we are very happy with this bug zapper, and really hope it will have good longevity in causing mass bug murder at our camp property for much time to come.

This is the second one I've purchased as the first lasted four years. This one works well. The three stars rating is due to the shortening of the power cord. It is now 2 feet long. It was over 6 feet long and did not require an extension cord but now an additional purchase is necessary due the the very significant shortening of the power cord. This was probably a cost cutting measure by the manufacturer and a passing along of additional expense to the purchaser. But, it's enough of an irritation to warrant the 3 star rating.

This thing is bigger than I thought and it is one hell of zapper!! Works excellent and not as loud as others. Worth every penny.****** Suggestion- instead of using the little brush included, take a hair dryer to it and the dried dead boogers will be blown off.
