It's fine, but nope.
I own a single-arc lighter of this general type from Tesla: Tesla Coil LightersTM USB Rechargeable Windproof Arc Lighter I basically just wanted to 'murica up my existing lighter cause if one arc is great, two arcs must be phenomenal. I'dve ideally purchased the Tesla double-arc unit but while I find my current Tesla's aesthetics tolerable, the dual-arc is fantastically ugly in an unforgivable way, so I went with this unit for a more understated look. This device is categorically worse than my Tesla. Feels less sturdy in every way, lighter overall, lid closure feels much flimsier, button feels awful by comparison, etc. Honestly, I'd put up with that, all things equal, but the Tesla has a couple safety features that I assumed were table-stakes but apparently are not. First is a feature that prevents the activation button from lighting up the arc while the lid is closed. This lighter does not have that, so this thing can be sparkin' in your pocket. Second, the Tesla has an auto-shutoff feature so if the button is held down too long, it will just shut itself off until you release and re-press the button. So far as I can tell this one does not, or it's so long that I didn't get to it. Either way, I'm unwilling to put this in my pocket where it may be literally arcing continuously until my leg erupts into flame. Admittedly an unlikely scenario, but I'm not interested in the chance.I mean, two stars cause it definitely works, makes the zip-zaps and for the money the build quality is not unreasonable, but if you want one of these that feels well-made and isn't terrifying to have in your pocket, the Tesla single-arc is a much better choice. I definitely wouldn't buy this again, but I don't think SPPARX pulled a fast one on me, I just don't like it. No hard feelings or anything.

A bit bigger battery, and everyone would prefer this to a lighter.
The lighter thus far has worked well with one issue, charging. The real reason this was purchased was as a backup and in that role it is of course the best possible solution for what it can do. As for what it can do, it is the perfect prepper or survivalist gear bags fire companion, especially if you are using a solar powered setup. You can light wet materials instantly with it, that is definitely true. Further the strength of the dual head is readily apparent. There is as many have stated room for improvement on the size of the gap between to use for cigarettes as well as a cigar (which if you are an officianado you really must have one of these). The issue is the battery size for me. The recharge comes a bit sooner than I would like. Further while I can manage a days use of it with heavy smoking, I would rather a heavier and larger unit to utilize a larger battery. BUT As I have said, it was purchased as a backup and I will in fact buy more. I do hear younger adults say the sound is very clear to them, but myself, middle-aged, and all the others in my age range say they dont hear it at all and clearly not as loud as a wheel clicked butane lighter. So I disagree with it being any nuisance at all. So, this is months into usage and I dont see it declining terribly other than the heads needing a light toothbrushing every so often. For the price, and what it can do, there is no better device. Its button does not accidently click, it poses no threat in the pocket, and the flick cover over top is solid and as durable as any real zippo lighters top. Even the paint hasnt degraded. I would rate it five simply for a slightly larger unit due to increased battery size. The light on the charging also helps clarify a good awareness of how much time you will need to recharge it at. The instructions that came with it in the very nice box are important to read, as it makes you very certain on its usage.

It all depends on the battery
Let me try to take care of them one by one. The instructions warn not to hold the button longer than 5 seconds. (Probably because they're worried about the electronics inside.) This is quite a long time unless one is trying to light a good-sized cigar. I would say, then, that one can't really properly or easily light a cigar with it. It does make a noise. I would call it kind of a soft sizzling or hissing sound. Picture a sparkler the size of a paper clip. This is actually the spark breaking through the air and heating it up. It's in no way loud or annoying to me. The electrodes are close together, probably to minimize the voltage needed to make the spark jump the gap; not a problem. The cover only opens so much, but it isn't a problem either. It's really very easy to light a cigarette with it. Like most people, I had to try a piece of paper towel; it lit that INSTANTLY. One could VERY easily start a camp fire with it by starting small. The lighter DOES last at least a week on a charge (It's been a week today.) The big question will be how long the rechargeable battery lasts (how many cycles) before it can no longer take a charge. If it lasts a year, it will already have beaten all the piece of junk refillable butane lighters I have thrown away. Keep in mind, there's no piezoelectric spark mechanism to break. All there is is a push button switch that I can't really picture breaking - it has a much easier job than the hammer and mechanism needed to hit the piezoelectric crystal to make it spark. Then there are some electronics with no moving parts, that should last a really long time if it's well designed and it seems to be. The ceramic insulators around the electrodes are very sturdy, thick, and well-made. Thumbs up if only the battery lasts!!I am not going to do this until there's a reason to, but there is a small phillips screw on the bottom and I'm sure that if I removed it, the whole guts would lift out of the case. I guarantee I will do that if the battery dies, and try to replace the non-user-replacable battery. I am using a small charging cube that plugs into the wall and has a USB port, to charge it and it works fine. (Cable comes with the lighter.) All in all, it will have to break quite quickly before I'm dissatisfied and, from the way it's made, I don't think it will!! I like it!!

Lovely presentation and great customer service
This lighter came in a lovely box, perfect to give as a gift. The lighter was presented beautifully and felt very nice to the touch. The noise from this lighter is far quieter than most others. The first lighter that i bought had an issue, i then got a refund from amazon. The buyer contacted me and as a gesture of good will, they have given me a replacement at no extra cost. Excellent customer service and a lovely member of staff Sherry was an absolute pleasure to deal with.Definitely recommend

Great lighter in the wind
A great lighter especially in the wind and rain, it easily lights roll ups and regular cigarettes. Battery life is good and the look of the lighter is top quality. I ordered 1 in black and another in white they are both very smart looking.

good back up lighter
I loved it, lights in all weather condition but can sometimes leave you with a light tingling on your tongue.as an ex-smoker I'll say the only problem with this is that there was something slightly dissatisfying about using this and not a butane lighter.

The lid on this jammed open rendering it pretty much useless
The lid on this jammed open rendering it pretty much useless. Prior to that, it was a good piece of kit. A side bonus is that it enjoys white noise, which is great for irritating youngsters!
