Helps with long hours of drumming
I bought this because it was the least expensive, name brand back I could find. DW back, on a Gibralter throne, would it work? Well, I had to do a little reshaping of the plate where the screw/knob goes through the slot on the bottom of the seat, but it wasn't a major mod. Only took about a minute to complete and it slid right in and screw right down. Would have been nice if there was a little adjustment, up and down, but it was the cheapest add on back I could find. Now that I've spent some time on it, I don't know if I would repossession it from where it is anyway. It's pretty comphy and a lot better than not having it to start with. There's one cavoite with adding this to your throne, Make sure one leg is directly behind you and not two. With the higher leverage of having the back on there, you'll be able to flip over backwards a lot easer.

Strong, adjustable, better than I thought
When taking the backrest out of the package I was a little concerned that I had made a poor purchase as the backside of the backrest looks cheaply put together. But, after attaching the backrest to the throne (in 20 seconds or less), I was very pleased. I'm a big guy - nearly 6'3" and 290. The backrest is strong and stable. Played hard for a couple of hours tonight at it was awesome. I have constant back pain due to a birth defect, and this provided me with amazing support. Would recommend it highly :)

Really Durable Drum Throne.
I love this DW backrest. It goes perfectly with the drum throne that you have to buy. This is the only thing from DW that I actually love to have. I just think that DW's hardware is too bulky. When it comes down to my drum throne I would rather have a large and sturdy drum throne that is very durable. I recommend this for big drummers because I am 6 foot 6 and 254 pounds and I have a size 17 shoe so for someone of my size I highly recommend this throne.

Helps back during long playing sessions.
Bought to use with DW airlift throne. I am a 62 year old keyboard player with a bad back, and in the process of upgrading my old seat, wanted more comfort, tried adding the optional backrest. Glad I did. Offer a lot more stability and comfort for me during extended playing sessions. Well worth the price, and very satisfied with my purchase.

Tacky Backside
This adds considerable back support and is very solidly built except for the back side which is a thick sheet of plastic attached by furniture thumb tacks to the rest of the piece. It's pricey for what it is yet satisfyingly heavy duty and easily detached when transporting. It's somewhat adjustable as to height and how close to the center axis your setup remains. It has no adjustment as to the angle of the back, nor do any of the soft parts of the unit or on the throne itself enjoy the company's 5-year warranty--only the hard parts.
