After the SD card died on a Raspberry Pi I was using for Home Assistant, I decided to go with a boot-from-USB option rather than just replace the SD card. I paired this with a Kingston 120GB SSD and it's been working great for the last few months. One thing to note if you plan to use this on a Raspberry Pi is that you can't go straight to using an SSD; you'll still need a spare micro SD card to do the initial setup on your Pi. The official Raspberry Pi imager helpfully includes an image specifically to set up booting from USB which you'll flash to the SD card. Definitely seek out a tutorial for the specific use for your install and follow it to the letter. In my case, the whole process took less than 30 minutes from start to finish.

Used this to clone a new SSD drive to an old laptop. This worked perfect, only needed it briefly, but may find a use for it form time to time. The SSD drive has made the laptop way faster and I don't even think about buying a new one anymore.

Not the ASM225CM (SATA-3) chipset, as stated in the product description and product photos. According to lsusb and the ASM tools, it has the old ASM1153 chip inside. If you don't care about such details, it does work and is simple to use (but there are less expensive options). I already have old adapters with the 1153 chip and purchased this specifically for the newer 225CM chip. Returned it because it was not as described.
