Clay Play! Animal Favorites (Dover Children's Activity Books) Paperback – January 15, 2020

The illustrated guide provides a fantastic variety of models with step-by-step instructions for creating fun and creative clay models. I purchased this for my 5-year-old granddaughter and she has created some of the models and has begun more projects inspired from this book. She also likes showing me the different things she plans to create from the book and it has been a fun, interactive gift so far. It does provoke some thought as to how to form their clay from a 2 dimensional picture with their clay. But the opportunity for them to create and improvise during this process does provide some useful skills. I included a basic set of sculpting tools here on Amazon (which were under $7 at the time). These are a good thing to include if gifting this to a young person. They are similar to the wood and steel tools that they might use as they grow their skills.

My 8 year granddaughter loves these projects and they turned out really cute. She was not overwhelmed at all by the instructions.

We have been doing a lot of clay. I think this book is great and the directions are easy to follow. However, both of the kids prefer to do their own thing with the clay. This would be good to get someone started.

I bought this book for my girls along with an air clay kit. They are obsessed and just love all the cute animals this book displays. Easy instructions as well.
