New Balance Mens MT610v2 Trail Running Shoe, Grey/Orange, 9.5

Was not sure what to expect, but with Prime Shipping, and the easy return policy with Amazon, I took a chance, and glad I did.I have just started getting more active... needed a set of shoes that allows me to walk on trails, sidewalks, treadmills, and even the mall. I have wide feet (EEE size) so based on some previous reviews, decided to go with the 4E version of the shoe... Perfect fit.I appreciate the mesh cover, when I hike here in Texas (Hike and Bike trails), my feet are not baking like other walking / running shoes.I have put on many miles with these shoes. It distributes my weight evenly and the heel is comfortable.Amazed with how light these shoes are, but that is expected with the mesh covering... (one I was standing outside after a long walk, and the cool breeze came, I was relieved to feel the cool air on my feet with these shoes)Played tennis in them, they worked well...So if you are looking for a good, sturdy, comfortable, light pair of shoes that feels great on wide feet like mine... these are the shoes for you...

Daddyoflittle got this same shoe last year in a retail store. They are very light weight and held up well. They look good and they don't make his knees hurt like some athletic shoes have. I ordered these on Amazon and ordered 4e (extra wide) by mistake.. They fit the same as the medium width. In fact ,I put the bottoms(1 old,1 new) together and the wide was more narrow than the old medium. I know the old shoe must have spread out some but the new one must run very narrow. There is no way he could wear a wide shoe much less an extra wide . He is keeping them because they fit fine no matter what size they say they are.

This is my 2nd pair of these and I think they're great, Very lightweight, flexible and comfortable. I wear custom orthotics and there is plenty of room in the 610's for these when the standard insoles are removed. I even put in foam insoles and this actually gives the 610s even more padding which is nice. I also think they look sharp! I had the old 810s before these and I liked those a lot also, but I did not care for the "new version" of these that NB brought out after they discontinued them. The 610's are the best fit for anyone who liked the old 810s. They fit pretty much the same but they are lighter and cooler and better all-around I think. My only complaint is that they charge different prices for the different colors. I can't imagine why. I like the red and black ones also but these were less expensive so I went with them.

These shoes are quite comfortable and not bad looking, but lightly cushioned and without much arch support. You may want to go 1/2 size larger to leave room for inserts. They are also narrow--the size 11 2E shoes I bought are barely as wide in front as my other size 11 D New Balance running shoes. Although they are advertised as trail running shoes, the tongues lack gussets to keep out dust and debris. It's nice that they're made in the USA. I like lightweight, ventilated shoes and will use these for everyday walking and yardwork. They look like they might last a year or two.3/25/13 UPDATE: I've had the shoes for 5 months and wear them almost every day. They have good traction and seem very durable. If you're a 200-pounder like me or just like a soft ride, you'll want more cushioning. I've added heel/arch supports, as I do with all my shoes. They don't stretch much--if you have wide feet be sure to get the 2E or 4E width.10/17/13 MT610v2 UPDATE: The above review and update were for version 1 of this shoe. The MT610v2, which I bought recently, is a much different shoe. The pair I got was made in Indonesia, not the U.S. The fabric is different, and thinner. This, and the fact that the solid bumper at the front of the shoe doesn't wrap around as far, means that the v2's will probably wear out sooner than the original version. The tread design is also different--more aggressive, with deep indentations that should provide good traction, but will also pick up lots of mud, wet leaves and snow if you wear them in wet or snowy conditions.For the v2, I bought the gray/orange color, 4E width. These are still nice looking, lightweight, lightly cushioned, comfortable shoes (but see my advice in the first 2 paragraphs for getting the right width). For me, the new tread design and lack of a wrap-around bumper limits their usefulness. They're best suited for use on dry ground.

I hate going to to shoe stores to buy shows. That's why, once I find out that New Balance fits consistently well in my particular size, I've had no reservations buying then online since the mid-2000s. This purchase was no exception. The shoes fit and are comfortable. They are inline with the new trend of less forefoot padding and, while that took some getting use to, I like it as it gives you more of a feel for the road. I ordered red and black and while it doesn't look great in the picture, it looks really cool "in person."One sidenote: One of the secondary reason I buy New Balance is that their PR machine has continued to pump the propaganda that they're made in America. Well, after I wore these for awhile I saw that label and found that these were make in China. While I surprised, I wasn't disappointed. I have to say that too many people Amazon bash products made in China automatically and I'm guess they're of the generation that was conditioned to equate Chinese made products with low quality. Given that some of the best and most coveted high tech products are made China (your iPads and iPhones being among), would say that some people need to rethink their prejudices.

Very comfortable and functional
