So my husband grows his beard every year starting in September so I got this for him because he's very into "conditioning" and brushing his beard. He loves to try all the oils and conditioners. Hey there could be worse hobbies right?! :) When he first started growing his beard a couple years ago it was so scratchy and wirey... so he decided to condition it and brush it to keep it nice and clean. So we have been through tons of different products over the past couple years.The container is much smaller than I had anticipated but its of a lot more substance than a lot of the other things my husband has used. It is fairly thicker so we used a much smaller amount and it had fantastic results. What I noticed right away was the scent... however it was quite pleasant. My husband has some that are absolutely revolting...This beard conditioner is made from:Organic shea butterOrganic deodorized argan nut oilOrganic beeswaxOrganic almond oilOrganic avocado oilOrganic jojoba oilOrganic apricot kernel oilBay Rum essential oilSounds like a bunch of great ingredients. I have a 5 month old baby and 3 year old that will be coming in contact with his beard so I prefer that he uses natural products that are safe for our children.I would recommend keeping the conditioner in a cooler place (not in your hot car) because it will melt and that could get messy. If you do however melt it you can put it in the fridge to get it to harden more quickly.After applying it to my husbands beard I just rubbed the excess into my hands. As I'm typing this I still have it on my hands. It is very moisturizing and my hands don't feel dry the slightest bit. I would recommend this to any of my friends. It would be a great stocking stuffer this Christmas!The only thing I would change about the product would be a more secure lid. If you hold the bottom of the container and turn it upside down... the top falls right off so you wouldn't want to keep this in a drawer with a bunch of stuff.We received this product at a deep discount to provide my honest opinion of this product.

The salve smells great. I notice it when applying but it either dissipates or I get used to it shortly after and no longer notice. It adds just a little pleasant shine to facial hair which seems to mellow out the longer it stays after being worked in; the shine isn't too noticeable like a hair gel or pomade. It provides just enough hold to groom facial hair and help manage scraggly stray hairs to being combed in the same direction. I wouldn't say this has enough hold to style or shape facial hair though. Hair does seem a little less rough after applying and it does seem to moisturize.Warming a small amount by rubbing it into the hands seems to work well and fairly quickly depending on the ambient temperature it's being stored in. In the winter the consistency is more waxy and it takes a bit more work to get it to melt. In the summer it's much softer and melts almost immediately in my palm before application. I have relatively short facial hair so a small pea sized amount is more than enough for me.

I've used several different beard balm products. I tried this one because it was on sale. From my experience there are two types: those with the consistency like Vaseline and those that are more like a mustache wax. This brand is more like the wax. I prefer this consistency. It doesn't feel greasy when you work it in. The scent is bay rum, It's smells good, and it's a relatively light scent. I like it. It's not strong enough to compete with whatever cologne I'm wearing. My beard is about 2 inches long and I am starting to gray, so I have a number of white hairs that like to rebel. This works good on controlling those. I use a about a thumbnail full each use and work it through with my fingers. I have not had any skin irritation like I have with some other brands. All in all, I am very happy and would gladly recommend.On a side note, no single product is going to "fix" a wild beard. Use a boars hair brush or a sandalwood comb (or both). Don't wash your beard every time you wash your hair. I shampoo mine once a week. Stack this with a decent beard oil. And don't be afraid to trim away the hairs that refuse to cooperate. I'm not new to this beard thing, I've been wearing one for about 20 years. If you're patient and stick with it, it becomes part of who you are.

This was the second tin of this product I have purchased and the product is not the same as the first. The tin no longer has a screw off lid, the product is gritty and yellow as opposed to smooth and cream colored like the first and the smell is awful! The first tin had a pleasant light scent with with a hint of cedar wood, this one has a "sour" smell to it. This is the first time I've made a repeat purchase on a beard balm as I usually try something different and I'm extremely dissatisfied, I don't know why they'd change the product.

I'm typically not negative on amazon stuff, but this is disappointing to me. I like the smell, it's not "greasy" but it's also not what I expected. The instructions say to get an amount the "size of a pea" rub it between your palms and apply. I'm not sure what they mean with the amount, but regardless it's not possible to do. This stuff is as hard as a new bar of soap. I laid it in front of a smaller heater for about 20 minutes, and it's still the same. Tried it when my beard was damp, it smells nice but that's about it. My beard feels wiry and dry, this doesn't have any "hold" to it, doesn't feel like it moisturizes at all and actually seems slightly irritating to my skin and eyes. I didn't expect it to be liquid or even "lotion like" but I'm not sure how anyone applies this to their beard.
