This book is an exposé of the child sexual abuse within the Jehovah's Witnesses cult. It is well worth reading to gain the knowledge of what to say when these people speak to you about their perfect organization. They believe to be God's only true people on the Earth and they are brainwashed. Barbara Andersen worked within the organizations secret group of men who rules them. She knows what really goes on. Stay clear of them, they know not what they are doing.

I grew up in a Jehovah’s Witness household. It is traumatic just being a member of this organization let alone going through the extreme trauma of sexual abuse! My niece was molested by her father and her cousins were molested by their father and he was an elder in the congregation. Her father “repented” and got a “slap on the wrist” and was then welcomed back into the “fold”! My niece is STILL suffering from the effects of her fathers actions. It gladdens my heart that Mrs. Andersen and her husband have had the fortitude to bring this to light!!! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!I also wish that their teachings that “spare the rod and spoil the child” doctrine and the consequences of this would be brought to light. We were beaten brutally as children and this was encouraged by the Watch Tower society! I continued to be an active member of Jehovah’s Witnesses until I was reprimanded by an elder for not beating my two year old daughter and making her sit still during the meetings!

I absolutely love this woman and she is a delight as a person I love reading her books insightful and educational

Barbara’s book for me, as a woman, is absolutely essential reading for a Jehovah’s Witness. She gives her account of working at Bethel and the discovery of child abuse cover ups in a clear, honest manner. I was heartbroken to learn that her fierceness for truth has cost her her family, but her work has raised awareness of this dangerous cult. It’s an unfair price to pay, and just one more piece of evidence that the practice of protecting abusers and victimizing victims are only the most well known of this organization’s disgusting tactics.My only wish is that the book were longer and told more of her story. I am so thankful to her for putting the pieces together for me so that I can walk away from this destructive group with a clean conscience. If only I could walk away from my memories of abuse as easily.

Barbara tells us what is behind the curtain of silence at the Watchtower. Her unique position as a former insider at the Watchtower headquarters confirms what we have been hearing in the news regarding the scandal of child sexual abuse at Jehovah's Witnesses. She documents everything and is not afraid to speak out in defense of abuse victims. This has resulted in she and her husband being shunned by former friends and family. Barbara has touch the lives so many survivors and victims of child sexual abuse for the positive. Thank you Barbara Anderson for stepping up and telling the truth about Watchtower's Scandal of Child Sexual Abuse. As you so aptly observe only those with a true love of truth will appreciate knowing of Watchtower's abuses and wake up.

Barbara writes from the perspective of one who truly emulated the love and compassion that Jehovah's Witnesses preach about. In this book she was able to show how she maintained her integrity to her values while calling out the appalling lack of care for those who have been harmed by the religion/corporation and their rules on child sex abuse. Well done.

This short readable book is another example of the problem of adult males sexually abusing teenage or younger boys. It is a problem in many churches, not just the Catholic Church. The problem for some reason is apparently more common now than in the past. Some speculate that our sexually liberated society is partly to blame. Churches are then caught in the middle. Often the victims are called children but many, if not most, are teens. This does not absolve the perpetuators, of course, but compilates the situation. Most of us have a very difficult time understanding this behavior.

Great References to continue your research. What she had access to very few people ever do, and for her to be courageous and expose it is commendable. A must-read for all who want to learn more about the Watchtower. The proof that she was right are all the lawsuits Watchtower is experiencing today. If she is correct which I think she is there are going to be many more lawsuits being filed against the Watchtower for not reporting the sexual assaults that have taken place against minors. It really takes a special person to not go along with the cover-up.

What a fascinating story Barbara tells! The JW prison outreach program and the information about how matters were handled (or more like mishandled) in Bethel regarding child abuse within the organization were mind boggling. Barbara is a great writer who shows no anger despite what she's been through. I loved reading her story and benefited from the side comments from accomplished authors Jon Atack and Bonnie Zieman (psychotherapist and author).

It is an excellent work although very brief.

An excellent and easy read and I admire Barbara's bravery in exposing this evil cult and how it protects predators and not children and young people from both sexual and physical abuse. The public need to be made fully aware of the evil practices that take place within the JW organisation. Barbara does a brilliant job in doing that. I have thankfully never been a Jehovahs Witness and I cannot begin to imagine the suffering that both Jehovahs Witnesses and ex-Jehovahs witnesses have been forced to endure. I'm so sorry you have had to suffer.

Barbara Anderson is a trustworthy source for factual information. So is Richard Kelly. Both have a lifetime of experience of writing and reflecting on the abuse experienced by survivors of high control, in this case Jehovah's Witnesses. Barbara's story is long overdue. I for one am grateful for the work she has done in support of child abuse survivors, for her courage and her honest acount of the facts both on her website, in this book and in various articles. A life well lived!

This book by ex-Witness Barbara blows the lid off the Watchtower Society's shambolic policies on child abuse and also explains how the mind works as to how people can swallow dogma and believe that "black is white" when the facts blatantly prove otherwise. I was a JW for 59 years but no more! This book may not be of the same calibre as Ray Franz's Crisis of Conscience, but it belongs with it as revealing things most JWs are unaware of.
