Kicks Bass and gets the Blues
I have used the stretch 25+ trolling for Stripers in the Long Island Sound and Hempstead Harbor. The Bunker colored and Red Head have both worked well with the Red Head being the most reliable catcher. Boated monster blues, and nice keeper sized stripers with these lures. Even smaller fish go after them with stripers in the mid 20 inch range inhaling them. Hooks are very strong and finishes have taken a beating but still work. A great feature is that you can accidently drag these bad boys on the bottom and they don't seem to get hung up other than some weeds getting stuck on the hook now and then. It must be the huge diving lips that run accross the bottom keeping the hooks up and off the bottom. I really beat these things up and didn't lose one all year while I lost several umbrella rigs. Umbrella rigs are the deadliest but these lures are more durable. The soft shad umbrella rigs get destroyed by blues while these lures just get a little scratched by the choppers sharp teeth. The treble hooks hold well as long as constant pressure is applied. A little slack and a striper violent head shake will throw treble hook right out of its mouth (I learned this firsthand). These are made in the USA so buy them, thats what I did and happy for it. Gonna buy a couple of red head 30+ and another color of 25+ for the 2012 season. Tight lines! Remember to catch and release quickly with care. With a good grip on the fish, firmly rocking the treble hook back and forth with pliers or hook remover seems to do the trick quickly with little injury.
