Dash Crab Duet
It is an OK item. Thought Dash Crab would be much better based on the reviews but it is after all a gel suction cup holder.Under the sun this holder just falls. Holding mechanism is good so I've decided to keep using it instead of trash it.Although Dash Crab indicated 'one touch' still require user's two hands interaction during phone attach process andthis will eventually shakes the Duet unit weakening the gel holding power.< Caution : below method will ruin the gel suction part of the Duet >I bought all weather safe Velcro type fastener and outdoor weather resistant super-glue.1. Apply glue to the Duet's gel area and hold together with fastener 1 of 2 --- dry it over night2. Apply other 2 of 2 fastener to the dashboard - this time NO glue- gently press down the fastener to the dashboard surface.3. Press down part 1 to part 2 from above. Done. Now I'm happy with super sturdy Duet holder on the dashboard which can withstand high temperature & strong sun rays.

Best phone mount
This is an intelligently designed product. First, it's extremely easy to install. It will stick firmly on either the windshield or on top of the dashboard with a single push of the lever in the back that recesses flush with the adjacent surface. I was concerned about one hand operation to snap in the phone and adjust the position and this was not an issue. The clip was securely fastened and did not come off after several pulls and tugs. Also, I was pleasantly surprised at the universal pivot in addition to the ability to rotate and slide vertically. There is no limit to the positions you can have to get the perfect viewing angle.I can see that this is made with high quality materials. I looked at several models at Walmart and Target, and they are all made flimsy in China. This one is made in Korea, and as an engineer, I trust Korean made product. The phone was held securely; there's no way my iPhone is going to come loose. Going over Chicago's winter pot holes on the street didn't even make this thing flinch. I can see who's calling now without looking away from the traffic without worrying about constantly adjusting. And no more putting my phone in the cup holder!

Impressive sticking power Except in hot weather!
I agree with another reviewer, this looses some of its grip in hot weather but, I disagree that its all that bad. I have a textured and curved dashboard (no flat spots) and this has popped off once before but, there was quite a bit a pressure applied as I was trying to force the phone in using only one hand. When, you use two hands to put the phone in (to create a wide enough opening) it works and stays put quite well. Bottom line you can't expect something to work much better than this unless it was bolted down.It also holds my iPhone 6 plus quite nicely and the pivoting and turning works well.Update: I take back what I said. It was all that bad. This does not stick to my dash in hot weather and when going around curves would often cause it and my 6s Plus to go flying through the air and slamming into the inside of the car.

Worth every penny
This is my fourth or fifth car mount, and I was hesitant to spend this much money, but I was tired of them failing after a few months. I do use it just about every day, so it's not like I wasn't getting my money's worth on the $5 ones, it was just annoying. After reading the nearly unanimous great reviews, I decided to take a chance and I am so glad I did. This thing is AWESOME. And still going strong after several months of everyday use. Easy to install and easy to use -- I've even transferred it between cars a couple of times with no loss of suction or stickiness. I have had a couple of times where when I first installed it, it would pop back off a couple of minutes later, but given how well it holds when it's installed right, I'm sure that's user error and not an issue with the mount.

best phone holder ever
This is definitely the best phone holder I have used and I have used quite a few. The suction cup is very high quality, I even have it suctioned on to a flat vertical plastic part right below my dash/radio (I don't like it up on top of my dash at night, too visible) and it stays on and has never fallen off even when it suctioned on to plastic, and to a vertical surface. The one handed operation works great too because the holder part has enough friction to hold a phone in, but it has less friction than the other joints, so the other joints will stay in place while you put the phone in.highly recommended.

Was skeptical...
I got the blue one, it looks exactly as pictured. Put my iphone in and shook it like crazy, phone went nowhere. Just put it in the car, it stuck like glue. I imagine it would probably hold up even in a crash. I placed it just slightly wrong, luckily it's still good enough placement, because I can't get it back off to move it. I've used so many of these, and most types either don't fit my dashboard (which is rather bumpy and curvy), and won't mount on windshields, or they mount but fall off, or they are sticky and I can't get my phone off without two hands and ten minutes. This thing has none of those issues, I imagine it'll work great for everyone. Now to get my husband one...

The best
I may be wrong but I honestly don't think anyone makes a better one of these. Dashcrab is by far the best I have ever had & probably will have. It can be positioned at almost any angle and has the ability to hold many different size items. Personally, it holds my gps & my phone in both vertical & horizontal positions. I use it either on my dashboard or my windshield. Sometimes even on my lawn mower to keep an eye on the baseball games score while I cut the grass. You can mount it many places. It's offered in different colors and I recieved it quickly. Highly recommended!

Be aware of one problem - maybe not for the top of your dash...
I got this for my VW Passat. I had it on for a month. It held my iPhone fine and stayed well attached to the top of the dash. After a month I took it off the dash. Now I have a ring that looks like someone placed a leaky glass on my dash! This is a stain from the adhesive mount. I have tried various cleaners to remove the ring, but nothing has removed or diminished the ring. My only hope is that maybe the sun will fade it away. This mount may be OK for glass or painted or plastic surfaces but not for my dash.
