Infant OpticsWide Angle Lens For DXR-8

This review is for the Wide Angle lens as well as the infant optics DXR-8 Camera. Since I received the camera from our baby registry, could not submit review. So had to submit review on the Angle lens website for the DXR-8 Camera and Lens.Infant Optics DXR-8 Video Baby Monitor with Interchangeable Optical LensI have had the DXR-8 for about 18 months. Works amazing!...It was so good, that I decided to purchase the wide angle lens. My review is below:Pros- Easy Setup, just have to "link" camera unit to hand held unit, took about 2 minutes- Clarity, in the dark, you can clearly see the crib and baby, its black and white in the dark, but when the light comes on its color.- Can Zoom in if needed as well as PAN, TILT, etc...amazing!- Changing lens out is basically like screwing in a light bulb...super easy- Distance!...we live on the third floor, and I have taken the hand held unit all the way to the mailboxes, which is downstairs, outside, about 150 feet away....and it still has signal....between walls, elevator, and sidewalk. However as soon as I pass the mailboxes, then it looses signal...but 150 feet is pretty good.Cons- My wife can not live without it. Why is this a con? - see belowAmazing Customer Service!- Basically last week, the battery was not holding the charge. So i contacted customer service, they suggested few methods and that did not work. Gladys one of the CSR, stated that i was out of the warranty period, HOWEVER they were willing to replace unit. I just had to ship them my old one!. BUT again, here is the con - My wife can not live without it! - so I could not send my old one back because it would be a couple of days we would not have a monitor. So I mentioned this to Gladys, and within 24 hours, she replied back to me stating they were sending me a replacement, and that they were trusting me to send my unit back. WOW!, who does that nowadays!. That blew my mind. I had to write a review!. I had to give this company props!...Anyway, I received the replacement yesterday and connected it. Works Great!...and Yes I shipped my old unit out today! :)Lastly, ironically, on the news today I heard all these fake reviews that have been hitting Amazon lately, and I want to say, this is not Fake, I am actually an owner of the DXR-8 camera as well as the wide angle lens. I DID NOT GET PAID TO DO THIS REVIEW!. I just wanted to let people know what a GREAT COMPANY this is and what an awesome CSR Gladys was.

Works fantastic! Change the field of view dramatically. We can see all of the room almost except the corners along the wall it is mounted on but barely moving the camera on the remote you can see the whole area.I do wish the resolution was heights but I don’t feel that is the lens but the camera sensor.

I purchased the wide angle lens because I had to install the camera at the very top of my wall at the ceiling in order to get the whole crib in the picture.I was worried about the night vision due to other reviews, but the manufacturer stated that issue was fixed. It definitely is fixed because I do not see a different between the regular lens or night vision lens.Pros:- I could install the camera lower and get the whole crib and additional parts of the room- By installing it lower I could accurately use the temperature feature of the camera- Night vision and regular vision works great- Did not affect the quality of the picture at allCons:- The night vision does have a 'hot spot' but this is more of a camera con rather than because of the actual lens. I had this same 'hot spot' using the regular lens as well.Overall it works great and I absolutely needed this wide angle lens for this camera in order to use it the way that I wanted to.

We have the monitor at least a foot above the crib and the mattress on the lowest level, and with the standard (not zoom) lens we could still only see half the crib. The wide lens makes it so now we can just barely see the whole mattress, which is great, but I feel like this should be the standard lens? Even this wide lens is still more zoomed in than another baby monitor we were using before. But overall, this lens does what it is supposed to do and I am thankful they sell it for a reasonable price.

I was very happy to see that this lens is available for a reasonable price. The lens is easy to install, and provides a nice panoramic of almost the entire room, which is perfect for a roaming toddler. Some reviewers complained about the distortion of the picture, but I find the distortion minimal and am very pleased with the video quality. As other reviewers have mentioned, this lens offers very poor to no night vision (despite the fact that the night vision on the monitor is awesome). If you keep a dim light on it isn't an issue, but in total darkness it is pretty much impossible to see anything. I would have given this lens a 5-star rating if it allowed decent night vision, but overall this a must have if you have a toddler.

This lens helps us to be able to see the whole crib with our infant optics camera. Does not change the video quality at all. Easy install.

It works!

I bought this hoping it would allow me to see the entire nursery room in preparation for moving both of my kiddos in the same room. I really didn't want to spend and additional $90 on a second camera for this Infant Optics system if i could get away with using a wode angle lens.The view during the day is a tiny bit blury but still clear enough that it gets the job done. I had pretty high hopes that my purchase of this lens was going to save me from buying the second camera. I quickly found out that night though, that the night vision on this is pretty awful. Guess I'm buying a second camera after all.I'd recommend this if you're plan is just to have view of a room while you're doing things around the house and just need to see a kiddo play in a room while you get things done during the day.If you're hoping to use this at night, I wouldn't recommend.
