Meh - ends in a cliffhanger and I'm done with being sucked into that game
I was stuck between a 2 and 3 star review for this, not because it was written that badly but because it was too many details and narrative wrapped around a suspicious plot that doesn't seem to get to where its going at all. Of course, when I discovered it ends in a cliffhanger, that pretty much did it for me. I have put notes like the following in every review I've written about cliffhangers lately - Authors, I don't care if you write cliffhangers, I don't care if you want to milk a series for all its worth in terms of money. What I DO care about is that you tell me in big letters up front that this book will end and I will have to read Books 2,3,4, and 5 before I get closure. That gives me the option of NOT reading at all. I saw the review that Redbook published and wrote about it being the second book to read behind Fifty. Well, first off, Fifty was about a sadist, spoiled brat who had no true knowledge of the BDSM lifestyle, just his own kinks and a very immature heroine who needed a good paddling and not in any enticing way. So, I picked up the book figuring how could there be two books like this on the planet, right? This book jumps back and forth, up and down, it gives irrelevant details as part of the story, as if those details mean anything at all to the plot. I really, really, really wanted to like Alex. I want strong women who want romance along with their erotic action. But nope, didn't get it here. And I really wanted to like Nox, but in the end, he got what he wanted and I think I have to continue to book 2 to find out what really happens. Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately), I'm not going to do that.My advice to the author is to write a series that are stand-alones. I know you can do it, its really easy. You don't have to have total closure at each book, but at least let the reader stop reading at the end with a good feeling, instead of feeling like a pickpocket is after their wallets. I've spent as much as $50 for a book for my Kindle, so please don't think this is an issue of money. It IS an issue of truthfullness and writing talent. I would read another book by Ms. Romig, but it will not be part of this series.

Story jumps back & forth in time multiple times, then ends on a cliff-hanger. Annoying!
No spoiler with review: Betrayal is of little depth and jumps back and forth between a young woman's wild vacation week (when she meets alpha male "Nox"), and the same young woman in her good girl role at home with her controlling step father and intolerable family pressures. The opening seems somewhat childish, and the back and forth writing style causes repeated and annoying story disruptions. In Betrayal, Ms. Romig refers to past events (the wild week) in italics, but writes as though those events are presently occurring, thus enabling her to avoid writing in past tense. For her this seems to be a necessity, due to poor grammar skills, particularly relating to tenses. Betrayal eventually morphs into Alexandria's escape into a better situation, the result of which seems to be the beginning of the actual meat of the story. There is a cliff-hanger non-ending. I refuse to pay for cliff-hanger stories. Why would anyone pay full price for part of a book? I own over 600 books and have read many hundreds more of hardbacks and paperback novels, none of which required additional purchases to obtain the story's end. Previously I'd purchased two of Ms. Romig's first books in a series because the stories were good. I didn't purchase the subsequent books of that series because the hundreds of grammatical errors became so intolerable that I could not take anymore. However, this author has the ability to create a good story and to hold the interest of her readers. She should be able to sell her works without resorting to cliff-hanger endings that hold the end of the story hostage until the reader has purchased who knows how many books. Personally, I own 20 books by an author (other than Ms. Romig) because I like that particular author. Additionally, I own multiple books by many other preferred authors. If an author's books are good they will be purchased. Dividing a story into segments and then pricing them as individual books is neither fair nor cost effective for the reader, and might start pushing customers, such as myself, back into reading paperbacks exclusively. Please authors and Amazon, make it very clear to the reader when a book stops with a cliff-hanger rather than some type of a real ending. This will enable readers who do not like that type of book to choose other authors for book purchases, and thus be more apt to be pleased with those purchases.

Not worth the time or money.
I gave this 1 star because: I read the first four in the series and refuse to purchase the last. The first one was good. The second one was OK. The third was frustrating. And the fourth was horrible. I refuse to purchase the fifth one in order to find out what happens when it should've all been written as one book without the frustration of the lack of material in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th books. I never write reviews. However, I am choosing to in order to save others from the frustration of reading these books. I could actually summarize three out of four of these books in about 10 minutes. Don't bother reading them.

... read by this author and I was blown away like I haven't been in years
The Infidelity Series was the first I read by this author and I was blown away like I haven't been in years! Aletha Romig is unlike any author i have read before...I love "feeling" what the characters are feeling when I get so engrossed in a book but the feelings I had throughout this series was almost like I was really living it. Joy, anger, happiness, rage, anxiety, fear, hopeful to hopeless and so much more in between. There were times I couldn't put the book away and others when I purposely put it away for days because I couldn't handle the emotional turns. I wondered at the beginning what people meant by "Have you been Althea'd?" BUT now I know and she totally broke me down. I actually decided on this series over her consequences series because that seemed too much for me but in a few weeks I will probably be there! This particular book, being the first in the series it really sets the mood for the remaining books. You get just enough info to have you wanting more and I love that we get to see the amazing parts of Charli and Nox before the water starts to boil. I think I should have kept more of an open mind about some the characters in the book as my feelings about this in this book are so drastically different in others. Great start to an amazing series!

5stars
Betrayal is the first of 5 books in the infidelity series by Aleatha Roming . the writing in this book is fabulous, its told mostly from the point of view of Alex a lovely determined young lady who is fighting for her wright to be independent from her estate, the story switches between a then and now which keeps you on your toes and also guessing how the turn of events will end ?? In this book we meet Alexis best friend and confident Chelsea, the hot guy Nox from their trip who Alex gets completely wrapped up in, the parents and characters from Alexis past who still by the end of the book I find seem to be hiding more than there letting on ! This book doesn't contain any violence that's upsetting, but does have sexual content, and it also sadly end on a major cliff hanger I've just pre ordered book 2 but there are still another 3 books after so I'm taking myself off to look at some of the other work Aleatha has done

A cleverly spun tale of secrets and deceit... A must read!
Ever read a book & thought "how the hell do I review this..."? Well this is one of those books!! I waited until the whole series was out because if this is anything like consequences it will finish on a WTF type moment & will need the next book to dive straight into. I wasn't wrong!!This book gives us a little bit of history of Alexandria (Alex / Charli) Collins; although in the typical Aleatha way more questions are raised than answered. In true style she is very clever at creating a trail of crumbs for us to follow. Starting at present day we know that Alex is at odds with her family. She doesn't have any intention of following the path that's been laid down for her since her great grandfather set about creating the Montague way. Deciding to focus on her desired career as a top class lawyer.Enter the charismatic Lennox (Nox) Demetri... we don't learn a great deal about Nox except he is an extremely rich business man with his finger in many pies... he is very intriguing, sophisticated, charming and you instantly want to know a whole lot more about him.OMG! What a cliffhanger this book had. Aleatha weaves a very clever tail of deceit, secrets and appearances. Nothing or no one will be as they appear. If you loved consequences you'll love this even more!!

Faithfulness
I absolutely loved this first book of the series infidelity by my all time favourite authors. I love this authors style of writing. Her prose is wonderful, insightful and delicious! A great storyline that has it all, faithfulness, betrayal and family hate, erotic love scenes. Simply put I loved, loved it. I Will certainly enjoy the rest of the series. Can't wait. Can 23 year old Alex accept the betrayal of her mother and stepfather and continue with her dream future after Charlis’ ‘One Week Only’?Thank you Aleatha x

If you like cliffhangers, go ahead and buy this book and the 4 more that follow...
I really don't like books that end in a cliffhanger. When I read this book would be full length I naively assumed it meant it would be a complete story. Not only this is not complete, you need to buy 4 more books to get to the end of very poor and unimaginative relative of 50 shades. The story drags, its soppy and rather unrealistic. Who in the 21st would be held hostage in a house and then made to marry a person they haven't seen for several years so she cleans up his police record? Buy it and waste your time at your own peril!

I'm so desperate to read the next book that my review will be short and sweet.Alex or should I say Charli with an I agrees to a week of unadulterated fun with Nox and both go their separate ways. After the seven days Alex is summoned home to be told her trust fund is gone and she should give up any idea of becoming a lawyer and settle down an marry Bryce who comes from an eligible wealthy family.Alex flees the family pile and seeks out her cousin Patrick who tells her he can introduce her to the Infidelity Club where u agree to be in a relationship for one year and all your money worries will disappear. The man who buys her contract for the year is none other than Box or should I say Mr Lennox Demetri
