Like all good old school eyeliners, I waft it over a flame to use it melted when I want a more liquid, retro look and the formula works beautifully for that; I'm too clumsy for liquid formulas. Once the pencil hardens again it can still be used for a softer look. Many modern formulas are ruined once you melt it and you have to keep melting it after that. Black as night. Didn't smudge on me even though the skin around my eyes can get oily over the course of a day. Also -- as I promised my late rescue beagle -- I'm oath-bound to use only cruelty free products. This delivers.

This is my favorite eyeliner ever. Really the only one I prefer to buy. Stays on very well, is nice and dark and is easy to apply.

These are great eyeliners—easy and smooth—but they aren’t packed well and break in two in transit.

I don’t always wear black eyeliner - when I do, this is my favorite kohl liner. I use this as an “inside” the lash-line liner, though it works well outside the lash line, especially if you’re looking to smudge / blend it.As it’s a soft kohl, “smudge-proof” isn’t something you’ll get from this unless you use something to set it.Again, as this is soft, be sure you have a good quality sharpener if you’re wanting a thin, crisp line.This is a “perk-free” review.

Color was great, but everything else failed. I'm glad I only wore it around the house first. I have somewhat oily skin. I lined one eye with this and one with my old brand liner (as a control). After two hours, there was a little bit of black smudging around my eye, but very dark streaks in my eyelid creases. I only lined my lash lines! Glad it was cheap. Would not recommend.

I like my eye liners the darkest black they can go. This liner was pretty black, and it goes on really smoothly. My only complaint is it wears off pretty fast. It also smudges on my under eye skin even though I apply it in my water line. I've been using this eyeliner forever. I must have purchased at least 20 in a year. I will never wear any other kind. Stays on. Can burn to get darker and stays on all day. Love it!
