Is this the 2016 model?

I have been trying to find out the same information. I do not know why amazon does not list it as a 2015 model, which it is. Other major retailers carry an XE 2016 model with an extended 5 year warranty. This version only has a 1 year warranty.

Some reviewers claim that the hip/crotch strap is really tight. Is this true or is it a user error?

The crotch buckle is pretty tight and this is not a user error problem. Since we went to forward facing we had to switch to the outer slot, because that's how you're instructed to use the seat. So in the forward position using the outer slot our almost 5 year old is very squished and the buckle digs into her thighs. My husband keeps asking me if there is another outer strap and no there is not there are only 2. I can't imagine being able to use this seat much longer much less up to 65 pounds. We are currently looking for another car seat because we like the safety of the harness versus just a booster.

Is the cover for the Britax USA Marathon ClickTight Convertible Car Seat washable?

Kid puked all over it the first day. It is washable (and I put it in the machine even though it says not to). Cover was fine. Like dried so it wouldn't shrink. Only problem is...it took me an hour to finally get everything back together properly. I have a cheap $60 car seat with a single piece for the cover. That takes 5 minutes even with re-routing the straps and all. This one is super frustrating. At least now I know how to do it, so next Tim wit won't take so long, but it's seriously not at all intuitive and the instructions are not that helpful.

Has anyone else had a problem with a strap not releasing and having to be pulled really hard to loosen before being able to get the child out?

We had this problem too. We discovered that if the front belt ( the strap that goes in when loosening and is pulled out when tightening) isn’t exactly center (maybe off to the side a bit ) it will get stuck trying to go in. This is the case for both tightening and loosening. So make sure you re adjust it to be centered. We had a tendency to pull it towards us as we were pulling and it would get stuck. A quick readjustment should fix it. Didn’t figure this out until our second child lol
