DEWALT DW5447 Hammer Bit

As someone who frequently takes on various DIY projects, the DeWalt DW5470 5 Piece Rock Carbide SDS Plus Drill Bit Set has proven to be a reliable and valuable addition to my tool collection. I recently used these bits for a few home renovation tasks, including drilling into concrete and masonry, and they performed admirably. One thing that stood out immediately was how efficiently these bits cut through tough materials. The rock carbide tips stayed sharp and made clean holes with minimal effort. This set really shines when dealing with hard surfaces where other bits might struggle or wear out quickly. The durability of these bits is impressive. Even after multiple uses, they show little signs of wear, which is reassuring when you have ongoing projects. I’ve used them for installing anchors for heavy shelving in my garage, and they handled the job without any issues. What I particularly appreciate is the SDS Plus shank design. It ensures a secure fit in my drill and prevents slipping, which makes the drilling process smoother and more controlled. This feature is especially beneficial when precision is crucial. However, the storage case could be a bit sturdier. It does its job, but a more robust case would be a nice touch to keep the bits organized and protected. These drill bits have met and exceeded my expectations, making difficult drilling tasks much more manageable. If you're in need of a reliable and durable drill bit set, this one is a solid choice for any DIY enthusiast.

The picture is misleading majorly lol , bought this thinking by the pic it looked like the bits were 1" 3/4" 1/2" and 3/8" not the case at all these are tiny mini bits , 1/4" to 1/2" and roughly 5" long just so you know . I kept them and ordered a single 1" bit for block lol I figure for spigots I can just use the 1 sds plus hammer drill with the 1" and 1/4" bits they look great have not used them yet but nice construction and material .

These bits pair well with my DeWalt rotary hammer. Keep in mind these bits will only fit into a rotary hammer drill and not a conventional chuck. The quality is great and was a great price for what you get. The case it comes with is sleek and I’ll probably keep it around to hold other bits once these wear out. Planting these into concrete is quick and easy. The storage of this little box is high for what you get. I would highly recommend this product to other tradespeople.

Was surprise how well it performs, drills bricks and concrete like butter, used it to chisel out mortar to removed old oxidized bricks. Pretty impressive bits.

TLDR; GREAT customer service - bit worked great in the end. This drill was working well, and cutting like butter. But, when I took it out of the third hole, the carbide on one side had chipped (see picture). The bit kept cutting, and after the 7th hole, was still in the same shape. I presume it was a manufacturing defect in the carbide. We'll see what DeWalt has to say, and whether their "no break guarantee" gets me anywhere. Other than the chip, so far it has been 5 stars... I'll update with some more wear, and whether or not DeWalt honored their guarantee. ** Update ** In the end, a simple call to DeWalt, and they sent a new drill bit out - no questions asked. While I was waiting for it to arrive, I kept drilling with the chipped carbide. Not quote as effective, but drilled another 21 holes (9" deep) in granite, and no further complications. The remaining carbide looks just like it did after the 3rd hole. So, a bad piece of carbide? Maybe. But, DeWalt took care of it. No complaints, and was WELL worth the money.
