I purchase and use the regular Irish Spring bars on my outer doors in the warmer weather. While it's nice to use as a deodorant soap, something in the product ingredients adversely affects flies. They must not like the scent. I rub the bar on the outer edge of my doors and it keeps them away.

I love the scent of this soap, but my cats don't. I foster75.00 kittens for my local shelter and put shavings from this soap anywhere the little buggers might think about peeing or pooping. Works like a charm and my house smells great!

I read that if you cut up the soap and place in the attic - certain critters don't like the smell and therefore don't hang out. So - do your research and see if you can find the same "advice."
