Great ideas and strategies
As always with Matt Glover this book is brilliant. What I liked about this book is that it acknowledged the reality of the classroom, that not all students are naturally engaged in writer's workshop. I think many books make out that writer's workshop comes natural to all children but it certainly doesn't and I found it comforting to see this book confront that issue. It really helped me rethink strategies for my children that have been struggling to get engaged with writer's workshop. Great read for all teachers who are looking for a little help or some fresh ideas for their writer's workshop.

Engaged...
This book talks about engaging kids to help them see even small experiences as invitations to write. This book did a nice job of showing how simple that can be, and gave great examples of books from Pre-K and K writers. The book also gave some nice in-roads through literature to help students to understand reading and writing like authors. It provided a good, easy to read jumping off point to start to work on really engaging students in writing and doing it with purpose. What I needed was more meat, more ideas about the ways we invite kids to write through experiences. I was sold on many of the ideas, but really wanted more help or discussion on what that would look like or how it would work. I kept waiting and getting more and more sold on the ideas, but in the end, I felt like I got a great idea without anything to go on from there. Still worth reading.

Moving Past Writer's Block
This book is an awesome follow up to "Already Ready". I have implemented ideas from the first book in my classroom and have seen children make amazing growth in their writing. In Matt's second book, he explores in more detail how we can get kids writing on their own terms, "nudging" them rather than requiring them to write. According to Glover, when children chose to write and are able to write about whatever they chose, their writing will be more expansive, richer and will ultimately lead to more and better writing. If you want to know how to get your kid writing with passion, read this book!

Awesome
This was one of the best resources for teaching young writers . It helped me... A veteran teacher revitalize the way I look at my students as leaners and writers. The products my students are producing are differentiated , creative, and reflect the writing and content traits modeled.
