I really don't understand two of these reviews. And I almost feel compelled as a Consumer to make a few comments. First and foremost I do not agree with the one reviewer that bought a counterfeit version of this product, obviously got ripped off, posted the Dream Cheeky warning about counterfeit products being sold and than stated that its all the same thing and slammed this product with 1 Star. Really? Apples and Oranges.Hijacked E-mail account? After reading through the full review I noticed that the Reviewer mentioned that because he could not get the Notifier to work he downloaded the USB E-mail Notifier from several different sources. There's one website listed on the instructions (not several). Hence-->VirusI bought this as a simple visual notifier when I receive e-mail through Yahoo and Gmail. It has worked just fine for me. I would recommend a better GUI and options. If the Notifier is bought through Amazon/Dream Cheeky and the instructions are followed it works.

I bought this with the intention of using it with my Outlook account. I wanted to get notified when an email would come in through a certain folder.When I installed the product, the software that was bundled with the device was out of date and ineffective, so I had to download from the website. Even then, after installing the newer version, I realized that there were little to no options available. It allows you to select your Outlook account, Web mail (Gmail, Yahoo, etc), or a POP3 account. I selected the Outlook option, and it took me to the next page, but there were no accounts listed in the selection box. Because my PC is running Windows 7 and is on a domain, my account is stored in the C:\Users, and that's not a place this app looks in. There's no option to browse for it, and I couldn't find any configuration file I can edit with the proper path. So there goes the only reason to use this.Then I tried using Outlook's POP3 settings, and imported them into the Webmail Notifier app. It synced my account without issue, but there's no way to configure the setup. I have several folders within my Inbox, and it only displays a notification if an email is sent to my inbox only. In fact, the only alert settings available are to determine how long you want the alert to display, if you want the alerts dismissed automatically, if you want to enable/disable a popup, mute the sound, or a useless option to display inbox capacity. To change the color, you go to the "account" tab.I wanted the notifications to just give me a blinking light until I cleared it. There's an option to do just that, but unfortunately, this app doesn't give you any sort of visible or logical ability to clear the notification. You HAVE to enable the pop-up alert to click the message away. Only then will the blinking light cease.This tool is absolutely useless, lacks any sort of support, and has no worthwhile customization.There is a knockoff offered by DX DealExtreme that looks just like the Dream Cheeky, but someone has written and developed custom software for it which allows the users to have a little bit more control. Plus theirs was only $7 with free shipping.But my rating: 0/0; avoid this product. It was a waste of my time and money. I advise you to put yours towards something more efficient.

What is it? It is RGB LEDs powered and controlled over USB. The provided software is pretty basic so be sure to review it to make sure it suits your needs.That said, I'm a bit of a tinkerer and asked Dream Cheeky for the Developer Manual which they happily provided. I was able to make a simple utility that would set the color and intensity to anything I wanted. From there I made a little script to poll my IM client to notify me of unread messages. (This was on Mac OS-X, btw.)I won't give it 5 stars because the software for it is fairly narrow in flexibility and utility. BTW- Don't use the software that comes with it, download the most recent from their web site. And, the device doesn't light up particularly brightly.I happily give it 4 stars because it is hackable and is just $10. A hardware hacker could potentially take the device apart and use the device to control other things besides three LEDs. (The three channels have a resolution of 0x00 -> 0x1F)

I bought three of these, they were as described and appear to be the real-deal. I've had a look at other pictures and the cords on some websites are white, but mine is black (as shown in the pictures) so that might be one way to try and spot the fakes being sold elsewhere.The indicators themselves are a little smaller in size than a business-card, but they are quite deep (this is to allow the light from the single ultra-bright multicolored LED inside them to diffuse and light up the whole thing.I have not tested the web-mail software that came with them, so all i can tell you there is the CDROMis red & white.I'm using these with trap receiver [...] to take SNMP traps from out network management system and convert them into flashing notifications using the command-line drivers from here [...]

Hello folks. Just a warning, even though you might have G-Mail, Yahoo!, Facebook, etc. if you have a MAC, this will not work!! Why they don't say that in their listing is beyond me! Upon arrival & major disappointment, I contacted Amazon who said, yes! As far as they knew it did work with MAC's. I asked where they got that info & they said from the listing. You have to download software that is only Windows based. The packaging also arrived in disarray. It was like another MAC user had returned theirs & Dream Cheeky stuffed it back in the box, taped it up & sent it off to me hoping I would not bother to return it. This is the very first thing as long as I have been an Amazon customer I am having to return. Too bad, how hard would it be to make it compatible with a MAC? I would imagine more MAC users would find this "cool" then the typical Windows user anyway? It's really too bad because I was excited & looking forward to using it! Get out of the dream world cheeky!

Works but not all colors work right. Must enable POP or IMAP on the web mail services
