Simple strategy game — that’s still so challenging!
Soooo much fun. I love this whole brand, their games are beautiful and simple, but require a lot of strategy.

10/10 Game. Easy to learn and SO fun!
I had seen ads for Quoridor for a while and finally decided to give it a shot. My friend and I decided to 'try it out' late one night and were immediately hooked. We played for hours and had a blast. The concept of the game is super simple but there are lots of different strategies. I have only played 1v1 so I can't speak to the 4 player game play, but if you're looking for a great game to add to the collection I highly recommend Quoridor.

Lots of possibilities
Great game with endless possibilities. A game may only take a couple of minutes, but it's a matter of seconds to set back up. Good quality wood pieces, which is rare these days.

Easy to learn, hard to master!
This is an excellent strategy game for two or four players that you can learn all of the rules of in less than five minutes. The strategic element, however, can take forever. The goal is simple - get your pawn to the other side of the board, which starts off empty. On your turn you can make one of two moves - either move your pawn one square adjacent, or put down one of your ten fences. The fences are impassable, and you place them to hinder your opponent's progress. The only rule about placement is that you cannot make it COMPLETELY impossible for your opponent (or yourself) to get to the other side. Backtrack the entire way? Go for it!I have only two complaints, neither of which are severe enough to lower this to a four-star ratings. The first is that the pawns are slightly too big, or the board is slightly too small. Because there are notches cut into the board to place the fences in, and the pawns are exactly the size of the space they sit on, it's very easy to knock them around when you're trying to place a fence. The other is that the board could have been better designed to accomodate four players. The gameplay has no issue with four players, and is loads of chaotic fun. There's just no storage space for the 3rd and 4th player to hold their fences, but it's not a big deal, you can just hold them in your hand or on the table. It just seems odd that the game designer built spots for two players to hold fences but not for four.Either way, this is a fantastic game that can be played in under ten minutes with a depth of strategy and simple rules. I highly recommend it.

Cool game; build could be better.
OK, this is a really cool concept, and it works out well in actual play. Quoridor is one of those games where the rules are very simple, but developing strategies can require a lot of time and experience.I've only tried it with two players, so far, but you can also play with three or four. The idea is to get your pawn-like piece from one side of the 9x9 board to the other, before your opponent does. The tricky part is, you have little barriers that you and your opponent can put in each other's way, essentially creating a maze as you go. A thoughtful player can force his opponent to go the long, long way around to the goal, while protecting a short path for themselves -- provided the opponent doesn't ruin that plan with their own barriers. The only disappointment was the quality of the actual game materials. First off, the board we got was not white, as pictured on the box, but dark brown with black squares, making it difficult to distinguish the squares from the slots between them, except under strong light. Second, some of the wooden partitions were so thin that they wouldn't stand upright in the board slots, marring the flow of the game with leaning partitions. Partitions should be of uniform thickness, and the board slots could be a little tighter. This could easily be fixed with a little tighter quality control by the manufacturer -- for a $32 game, they really should keep a better eye on details like this.Still, the game concept is interesting enough to overlook the manufacturing flaws; I've not seen another game quite like this.Recommended.ETA: 05/31/18: Contacted the manufacturer who graciously supplied replacements for the mis-fitting fences, for free. That's worth at least another 1/2-star. :)

Fun and fast strategy game for young and old.
Simple but Clever strategy game enjoyed by 3 generations of the family. After a couple turns, the 7yr old was in competition with 60 yr old grandparents. This game is great for having a quick end of day fast play time ( 15 minutes) but can be done as rounds like “3 out of 5” or “beat the winner” for extended play time and spreading around the fun. This was a great Christmas Day gift for me but afterward it was “borrowed” and enjoyed so much I gave up and bought a second one to keep at home. =)The game itself very well made and has good packaging for storage.
