Tried and true gel for curls
This is my always go to for a moderate holding gel. The cast it sets when dry is just enough and it scrunches out nice and soft. There is no strong smell and it never feels drying on my 3b curly hair. There is good reason for the fact that this gel has been around and been popular for so many years. Yes, it feels a bit expensive but you really don't have to use much. Plus, sometimes it's just worth it to get the thing that works the best...every time.

Love the consistency for my fine hair
Edit: Figured out my day 2 and 3 curls. I wet my hair with a spray bottle. Apply Curls Blueberry Bliss and scrunch, then apply a thin amount of gel with prayer hands and scrunch again. Love this gel.For reference I have low density, fine, wavy-curly hair. I am mixed with Italian and black and my hair frizz is extremely hard to tame. I live in Georgia with humidity and semi hard water. Now on to the review.I had been using the Kinky Curly shampoo and Knot Today leave-in for a couple of months and really liked the products, so decided to try out the gel. Turns out these are some of the best curls I have ever gotten. I washed with Come Clean, deep conditioned with Deva Curl Heaven in Hair, added Knot Today leave in and then applied the curling custard. The gel goes on smooth and left me with no wet frizz. It dried into a cast that was easy to break and left my hair soft and moisturized. The gel texture resembles flaxseed gel so it is somewhat wet and slippery which I think helps it blend into my hair better than any other gel I've used before (which includes Shea, Mixed Chicks, Curls Blueberry Bliss, Aussie, Garnier, Eco Styler). It just glided on. For this specific photo I actually washed my hair in the night, and wrapped it with a silk scarf while it was still half wet and could already feel the cast. In the morning I undid my wrap and shook the hair out to break the cast and voila! Big spiral curls. They we're so beautiful. I honestly wasn't expecting these results. In this pic I didn't style upside down (I did side ways) which is why my roots are not springy, but that was on purpose as I wanted to wear my hair half up half down with a relatively smooth top. In the end the curls lasted about 75% of the day, which is great. I was out and about at the park and my son tussles my hair a lot. Very satisfied. I haven't been able to figure out the next day curls yet, but I am super happy with the wash day results and am pretty sure I can figure out how to work this into 3 days without washing. This gel doesn't dry my curls.

Great for touch-ups!
I'm really happy with this product. I use it on my biracial kids' hair. I shape their curls with SheaMoisture Curl & Style Milk once a week after washing their hair, and then every morning for the rest of the week I touch up with this gel wherever there's frizz and unraveled curls. I also use it for edge control. It's clear, light and runny and perfect for this task - not too heavy, doesn't gunk up, doesn't flake when dry, doesn't leave any color residue, doesn't make the hair look greasy at all. The Milk is thick and heavy and perfect for the main hold, not so good for daily touch-ups. This gel isn't substantial enough for the main hold, but it's perfect for light touch-ups! The two work perfectly in combination and my kids' curls stay well-defined all week!I'm attaching a photo of my daughter's hair at the end of the day somewhere mid-week. She's 4, very active and rolls around all day, messing up her hair. She also wears a hat now that it's winter. But despite all that, her curls stay in great shape thanks to these two products!

Best gel for my curls.
I have Type 3B curly hair- spiral curls that can frizz if I don’t use the right products. This is probably the best gel I have ever used. It is made mostly of natural ingredients and smells good. When I use it, my curls stay tight and rarely frizz. The only problem is the texture, which is kind of gloppy. That makes it hard to get it out of a wide-mouth jar & onto your fingers. My solution was to put it into a squeeze bottle & add a little water. This is a bit pricey, but you need very little, so it is cost effective.. I think it’s great stuff.

No powdery or flakey residue. Holds firm.
The product works exceptionally well. You don't need a lot to get the job done. If you use too much, you may get a hard crispy hair-spray appearance (unless you like that look of course). I would say for a full head of thick curly hair shoulder length, use a quarter size of product. Use when hair is wet & comb it through for even distribution. Many times I just use it on the ends of my hair. It holds your curls well. The smell is decent. The product has a sticky consistency. I would like to see this product less expensive. Although the quality is good, it seems too expensive for the amount of product that you get. I go through these pretty quickly because I use it pretty much daily. You can also use it as a light gel to lay edges (It'll keep edges tamed but don't expect them to lay completely flat). Lastly, I like that it does NOT leave a powdery or flakey residue. I would highly recommend this product.

Best hair gel EVER
My go-to gel. Better than anything else for taming curls, keeping down frizz, and making your “do” look fab

Best product ever!!
I absolutely love this custard!! I have fine type 2/3 hair. Most gels and creams are too heavy for me. Mousse is light, but dries my hair out. I never got a great air dried look with mousse. It was always that wet, crunchy look or even if I scrunched out the crunch my roots were flat. I’ve gotten so many compliments on my hair since using this. I rarely use a diffuser anymore, but it also looks great blown out. This brand makes a great deep conditioner too - amazon sent me that by accident when I originally ordered. I alternate between that and Aussie 3 min miracle for my daily conditioner. It does take a little experimenting to get the right amount. I was initially using too much and wasn’t thrilled. I just dip my fingertips in and that’s enough. This stuff seemed a little pricey to me, but it lasts forever! I still have 1/3 of a container left after 5 months. Great day 2 & 3 hair too with a spray down and scrunch. 💜💜
