Exactly what I needed
I ordered two of these for installation into a '97 Honda Civic and a '00 Honda Civic. Both have nearly identical interiors/dashboards/center consoles so I knew what would work in one would work in the other. Several years ago, I'd installed US-Spec iPod interfaces so I already had L/R RCA jacks. I wanted to install a Belkin AirCast bluetooth kit so I needed the aux jack. These worked perfectly, with a little help from the local hardware store.I must concur with the other reviews that caution making sure to drill the correct sized hole. The design of this jack is such that it allows for installation without removal of any dash or console assemblies because it is tapered with friction rings spaced ~1 mm (~1/32") apart and can be installed from the finished side. For those of us who can or want to install from behind, this design is not ideal because the female aux jack is a tight fit and unplugging anything from the finished side will pull it out of the hole because the friction rings are too stiff to grip properly. Since I did not want to mess with the permanence that super glue would result in, I opted for another solution. I ended up utilizing a nylon washer and an "E" ring for each car. I put the washer in as a spacer and slipped the "E" ring in behind it. An "E" ring is just the right thickness that it slips into the space between the friction rings and prevents the aux jack from being pulled out from the finished side. Any well stocked hardware store (Ace, TruValue, etc) will have a good selection of different sized "E" rings. It may take some trial and error (I bought 2 each 7/16" and 3/8" at about 30 cents apiece) to get a good snug fit, but to me this was preferable to super glue because I can uninstall these in the future if I want to.As for the functionality, they worked first time off the bat, no hum, no glitches. I'm very pleased and now have full bluetooth operation from my iPhone 4S in a 15 and 12 year old Honda.

Purchased 4 of these over 2 years, clean & excellent solution
I've purchased a total of 4 over the last 2 years to add Aux iPod and Android Device music capabilities to my car, truck and 2 boats. It provides a nice factory OEM type plug to the dash or any location where I want to plug in. The female "receiver" plug works fine with only 1 caveat which I also saw mentioned by a few other reviewers. If you're rough with the plug and just yank it from the dash mount, you may wind up pulling the entire thing out. If you do, you just to push it back in, but I can see how it would get on someone's nerves. From a design standpoint, the female receiver has tapered flexible ridges, and so while it is a good fit for the hole you drill, the amount of pressure and friction is not enough to hold it in place if you're going to reach for the plug and just pull. Meaning, there's really nothing holding it in place from the backside of the dash. One reviewer used a washer and some super glue, but I simply go easy on removing the plug so it doesn't pull the female connector out of the dash. The upside to this design is you won't need access to the backside in order to screw on a back plate or washer. You simply drill a hole, feed the wire through, and fish the entire wire/plug from the outside, then push the female receiver into the dash. For the price, I'm good with the results and simply more careful when I unplug my iPod or Android device. If you want something that mounts without this issue, there are some other more expensive versions available that have a washer & nut that hold it in place from behind the dash.

Should have purchased it sooner!
I can't believe I had lived with my car for 8 years before finally getting sick of having no aux input. No more burning new mp3 CDs every time I want to listen to my latest downloaded music. This was so simple to install. It comes with everything you need to create an aux port in your car dash. My car stereo came with an aux function and rear input but it did not have an anterior aux input (which most do now). All I needed to do was drill a small hole (1/4") beneath my a/c controls and then after removing the dash I ran the included audio wire back to the rear of my stereo, plugged it in, and then installed the front portion of the aux input. I applied some CA glue (aka super glue) to the surfaces of the front aux input because I had read some reviews about it coming loose when you pull your audio cable out. Within 15 minutes my car was ready! This enabled me to use my voice navigation feature of my phone GPS which automatically interrupts my music when I am using both at the same time. It also enabled me to purchase a bluetooth hands-free device for answering phone calls and controlling my music/audio books while driving. You still have to control your audio with your phone if you don't have a bluetooth device.Overall, great product which has worked flawlessly for the last 2 months since I installed it. Wish I would have looked for something similar 8 years ago when I first got my car.

1 caveat
This product works perfectly well, there's just the one problem that everyone else mentioned--the input plug is tapered on one side, with little ridges. It's obvious that the idea is you could jam the plug into a properly drilled hole and the ridges would keep the plug from coming back out when you unplug your cord. But it's a snug connection, so no matter how tight you've got it stuck in there, it will probably come out the first or second time you pull on it. I solved this problem by mounting the input plug into my dash panel and then gobbing a ton of super glue all over the back of the plug, cable and dash panel, and then sliding a washer down over the cord, compressing it into the glue on the back of the panel while pushing on the front of the input plug to make it as tight as I could and then gobbing a lot more glue all over the back of the washer and the cord again. It's ugly, but no-one is supposed to see the back, right? Hopefully it works. This prevents you from being able to remove it in the future, but now that there's a hole in your dash, why would you want to? Other than that, the product works fine--they're cables.

Looks clean and adds a nice touch!
I just installed an auxiliary cable in my 2007 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT and when I bought the parts required to install the cable, this came up on the recommended list as well. I looked this item over and decided that I didn't want a cable to just dangle around in my car so I purchased this as well. This made my dash look superb and I love how secure the fit is. It was very easy to install, I picked the right spot on my dash to drill a hole through (took it off and made sure that I wouldn't be drilling through anything important). Using a series of drill bits, I worked my way up to a size that would securely fit the end piece. I would have used hot glue to secure it even more but I don't find it necessary as it was a very tight fit and if it does end up coming off, I'll glue it then. Though the connection between the wires felt like it wasn't going to come lose, I used electrical tape to make sure it didn't and in terms of quality, it sounds a whole lot better than any FM transmitter that's for sure. Overall, extremely satisfied with this purchase so far and will update if anything goes wrong.

Makes it look like a clean install factory finish
Used this in my older 1st gen mazda 3. I installed along with a usb charger. This makes it a very clean install. You just see the 1.5mm jack. All you have to do is buy an aux cord and you can hear your smart phone/ipod on your car radio. It's great for older cars that don't have gps. You can have google maps running on the phone and can hear over the car's speakers with your favourite music in the backyard of course. The only thing I had to add was a suitable nut for the aux port as it didn't come with one.

Easy install to after market deck
Easy install to after market deck. I glued it (sparingly) into and at back of panel with hot gun clear glue to insure it wont pull out. Very small so should be able to mount anywhere. just make sure you don't make your hole to large, start small and test fit . No more cables hanging around when not in use.
