Chinese Knotting: An Illustrated Guide of 100+ Projects

This is a serious, excellent treatment of Chinese knots for the crafter. There are many knots, with excellent illustrations and directions. The projects are a nice addition. I have the hardback addition. Each knot has a suggested cord diameter and length. You are not left to guess at it. A few of the knots are macrame standards, but many of the other knots are surprising. There's a table of contents and a real index in the back! I have made good use of this book, and it has greatly expanded my creativity.

While I regret for not getting the Chinese version, English version is easier for my children to understand the traditional Chinese knotting.For people that is short of knowledge of ancient civilization, Chinese Knotting long exists before any written characters appeared in human written history. Ancient Chinese used knotting to record events, simple as that. Over the course of centuries, it continues to evolve and serve different purposes.Please do not assume it's "religion" specific, because it's not. However, it indeed is "regional" specific, popular in far eastern Asian - China, Korea and Japan.

This book is very well written and the instructions are very easy to follow. I have several books on Chinese knotting and this is by far the best. I would buy another from the author if it becomes available. The projects are fun and I have them hanging all over. I put them on wrapped presents and give as an extra gift or ornament. I highly recommend this book,

El libro es absolutamente ilustrativo con instrucciones precisas. Las imágenes son preciosas y los proyectos económicos. Para aquellas personas creativas es un regalo maravilloso.

Ce livre est un bon recapitulatif d'identification des nouages typiquement chinois de base. Il permet de faire la nuance avec le Japon et la Corée surtout .Un seul regret, la partie historico-socio-culturel pourrait être beaucoup plus développée ,c'est bien dommage.Nous aimerions connaitre une bonne référence à ce sujet.A mettre entre toutes les mains, petits ou grands, debutants ou fin connaisseurs , un bon cadeau pour les fêtes de fin d'année.Attention , Il existe une publication française de cet ouvrage , mais la couverture tout aussi vive en couleurs est très différente.Cordialement Stéphanie Verdier.
