Continuous recording is a game-changer
Upgraded from SkyBell and this a huge improvement over it. While the SkyBell was adequate for the three years that I had it, the Nest Hello is superior by far. The main thing that was appealing about the SkyBell was the free cloud storage, but that is where the appeal stopped. The Nest Hello’s video quality is incredible compared to SkyBell. The white balance with the bright background and dark porch is far superior as well. The notifications are within a second or two while the SkyBell’s notifications took about 5-6 seconds. The major advantage the Nest Hello has over all other video doorbells is continuous 24/7 recording so even if a notification is missed, you can still go back and review video and make a video clip of it and save it. The SkyBell only recorded when the button was pushed or when motion was detected. Additionally, the SkyBell would false alert with motion from our bushes during windy days. No false alerts from the Nest Hello. What truly sold me was the continuous recording which we appreciated so much with our Nest outdoor camera in the front yard. Installation was simple in my opinion even with drilling into my brick for new anchor holes. Highly recommend over all others.

Best Doorbell for my Needs
When I moved into my new home a few years ago, I made the decision to put a Vivint security/smart home system in. Part of that system did include a smart doorbell. I wish that I would not have made that decision. Not only has the system had issues, but I also spent a lot more money on it that I should have. That doorbell did not have HDR functionality and my front door is partially covered and has unique lighting due to the dark area right in front of the door compared to the bright backlit area out into the street. This created a situation where to be able to see faces, I the background was just a bright white area. I grew frustrated with this and started researching other doorbell options. Vivint did release a new version, but not only is the doorbell more expensive than pretty much any other doorbell, but I was going to have to upgrade the panel inside my house for it to work. This means I was looking at $800+ to simply upgrade the doorbell. I made the decision I am done with Vivint. After researching multiple doorbells, I stared with the Eufy doorbell. I was intrigued by the ability to record without a subscription. While that doorbell did work pretty well, my concern with the fact that the video footage is stored locally on the doorbell and would be gone if the doorbell were stolen, led me to continue my research. I decided to try the Nest Hello as I already have Nest Thermostats. I have found something that fits my needs almost perfectly. The HDR is not perfect, but is much better than the old Vivint doorbell by miles, and is slightly better than the Eufy. I have determined my lighting situation is not going to be perfect with any doorbell, at this point. Although I was hoping to avoid a monthly subscription, the AI in the Nest Hello is worth the minimal charge. It is still much better than the $20 per month I have been paying for Vivint. I love the integration of the Hello doorbell with my Google mini's as I use two of them in the house for the doorbell chime. The facial recognition is not perfect, but it has done a pretty good job of capturing faces. I am very happy with my purchase.

great great product
I really love this product, much like other Nest products. The resources made available to the buyer for ease and efficiency of setting up is second to none. the videos / the printouts / the supplies- all presented professionally- just the way it should be.I did have some issues during setup- getting the doorbell to connect to my nest network. I didn't see any solution, and was getting close to giving up. then I remembered the nest connect device which I have in my garage which I thought was to extend the network for my garage door (Nest / Yale door lock). I plugged that connect device in by the front door where the doorbell was, and was able to run through the setup effectively. a bit of desperate luck there- but once it was set up, it looked and worked beautifully!

Do NOT purchase the Hello Doorbell until they add software volume adjustments
HeadlineBuyers beware – There is a “Big echo problem” with Google Nest Hub Max and Google Nest Hello Video Doorbell. There is also echo problems with Samsung smartphones.Recommendation – Do NOT purchase the Hello Doorbell until they add software volume adjustmentsProblem definedIf you have an installation with roughly 25 feet between the Google Nest Hub Max and Google Nest Hello Video Doorbell you could have a big echo problem. The volume heard outside to the visitor can be heard from more than 30 feet away, with no volume adjustment. As a result, the microphone on the Google Nest Hub Max picks up the sound causing a disturbing echo to the person inside. The outdoor visitor also hears the echo.FrustrationWe have been working with Nest support for the solution for more than one month now. All they keep saying is Google Engineers want a video to hear it. This is a stall tactic and hard to do by yourself. The problem is well defined and repeatable. Google Nest has not done anything…Anyway, multiple Hello doorbells have been tested with the same result. In my opinion, a one size solution does not work for all environments with no adjustments. Google needs to add volume controls to their video doorbell or microphone sensitivity adjustments to the Google Hub Max to make it useableUnfortunately, I can no longer return the Google products. Basically, we spent $460 for a flawed system. For the record, I have purchased and installed 10 Nest thermostats with great results. In closing, I would describe the doorbell tech support as poor and disconnected from the Google Engineering staff. My confidence is very low and will provide an update if something changes.
