Helpful lock info
Ordered this from a 3rd party seller and got an old version of the lock that had been USED so be careful, returned and got one online from that big home tool store* (90 day returns) but only after complaining to amazon supervisor. Amazon only knows that these 3rd party sellers try to sell used old version locks as brand new version locks if reported. The blue box version was the first version of this lock and had a lot of battery and remote issues. The red box version is the newest version and has some of those issues fixed so it's hard to say which of these reviewers got which version. Blue was sold at Cost.yo* and red version at the big home tool store* and online here or simplicikey directly. So if you get the big blue box you know it's older and may have more problems and know you have been taken if they advertise new. I've had this lock 8 months now and it works reliably if the batteries are fully juiced then starts to malfunction a bit as they run down. It hasn't stopped working from the outside in these instances, you just have to key the code in another time. It'll get confused and try to lock the door again when it is already locked so putting the code in again gets it to finally unlock. Again this corrects on fresher batteries and unlocks immediately. I had trouble getting it to work initially with almost the same symptoms but a different problem. It would try to lock again when already locked and would emit 5 long annoyingly loud beeps. Silent mode didn't turn this off. I called customer service and got to management a few times. Nice but very poor service in knowledge of the product. They know almost nothing about it. No one explained the beeps were a locking error that means the deadbolt isn't extended and the lock thinks it is actually unlocked due to the partial extension of the bolt caused by the shallow hole in the frame of the door. I know zilch about locks or anything 'handy' but finally figured this out on my own by researching locks in general. If a deadbolt doesn't extend the full inch into the door frame it isn't locking all the way to a locked position where you can't push the deadbolt back in. Try this with the door open and you'll see what i mean. I had to chip out another inch into the deadbolt hole in the frame. Basics for you handy people I know but Simplicikey management (customer service did nothing) sure didn't know it. They sent a used replacement lock under warranty to fix the problem which obviously would have no impact but I was pretty peeved paying full price and getting a used scratched up lock and remotes as warranty replacement so I returned the whole thing and ordered new again before figuring out the problem. The remotes work well and I can use them from the inside if there is a straight shot to the door about 30-40 feet which I needed for a problem with mobility or I wouldn't have gone to all the trouble with this lock. Sometimes I have to try the remote inside a few times before it engages and I get the angle of it right. You do have to get the wiring placement just right when screwing to the door to extend the inside range on the remotes. Might have to play with that a bit which is a pain. Outside range isn't affected by the straight shot thing, works a good distance away through some concrete and metal stairs. It was also the only one with a covered keypad needed for a condo to look normal like the others. Love it now. Silent mode is great, just hear little peck sounds when pressing keypad not the loud beeps and only hear the mechanical sound of the lock opening or closing, no beeps. When replacing batteries silent mode automatically turns off so you have to use the admin code and run thru the silent mode protocol again but it remembers the lock code so that doesn't have to be programmed again. Someone else said theirs deleted all codes but I replace one battery at a time instead of taking them all out at once and then putting new ones in..maybe that makes a difference. Love it now. Can't lock myself out and can let in family or medics when less mobile. We'll see how it holds up. I use the pad and remotes a minimum of 3 times a day and just replaced the lock batteries last week. I hope this review helps some others from being as frustrated as I was in this whole process.

Stepping into the 21st Century
Recently bought and installed the SimpliciKey remote control deadbolt.Installation was essentially straight forward except as noted, but be aware that ANY drag or resistance will cause the lock not to operate remotely (in my case, if I installed both wood screws to secure the bolt plate in the door, the lock would not work remotely, but with one screw left out it would - are two screws just enough to 'squeeze the bolt in the throw channel and retard it just enough to not work? who knows?).On first installing it I was unable to enter any codes, but the fobs worked. The next day my wife entered successfully entered codes, but the fobs ceased working - I fixed tis by pulling the batteries and voila! the fobs worked again! The only other issue I had was connecting the wires. The ribbon cable connects without issue, but the thin "COM 1" wire and it's connector on the lock's circuit board is some sort of twisted sadistic trick to connect. Why the engineers that designed this didn't design it with one ribbon cable and one connector I can only attribute to design laziness.SimpliciKey needs to redesign the connectors on the circuit board.

Mixed feelings on this Product
The product is as defined by Simplicikey. I would have rated as a 5 star except this is the 3rd time i ordered. It has been a horror story.First time came from Warehouse Deals. Got that one as a slight package defect other wise normal function. Not so unit was rusted, paint all over missing fobs, etc.Second unit received was not as specified, Did not work out of the box. No Manual provide with Admin Key code. Emailed Simplicikey and left phone message twice each. No response as well as lacking in Quality control. Returned ordered a third unit.Third unit received as specified. Worked out of the box, WOW! how exciting. Tooks 2 plus weeks.Bottom Line. Remote fobs worked Simplicikey out of the box. Install instructions provided with Admin Key Code (Yeah!). Now i have a working electronic deadbolt. Hopefully will work over the long haul. Installation was simple and quick. Instructions are good.If you order don't even install without the Adm Key Code. Trying to get support probably won't work, It's been a week since i tried contacting and still have not had a reply.

works great!
It's been about a month now since I purchased and installed my new lock. I installed it myself. It's been working like a charm. No major problems. Except I had to remove a small chunk of my door to make it fit. The half where you would insert the key (that's the technical name) has two "settings" a short or long. Of course for me short was too short and long was too long. Unwilling to admit defeat and have to pay and wait for someone with proper tools to correctly alter my door, I used good old brute force and got everything to fit and connect properly.I haven't had any problems with the batteries (knock on wood). That being said, irt other's problems with batteries, I have had battery issues with other electronics where one brand would last hours and another brand would last for months. So maybe try a different brand or two before you call it quits.

Great Product, easy to install
In most cases, if you already have a dead bolt this is a simple replacement
