Just what I needed for my plantar fasciitis.
I had been searching for some T'ai Chi slippers that wouldn't aggravate my plantar fasciitis which has been making my practice difficult. I noticed a visiting teacher wearing this type of shoe and decided to give them a try.The open top plus a slight oversize allows room for a supportive insole which is a huge relief! The sole is a pleasant surprise. I have used the layered cotton sole for years and feared that the treaded plastic sole would stick too much, and they did at first, but after a few weeks, they have smoothed out nicely. They aren't as slick as cotton soles but I can do "turn and kick with heel" and "sweep lotus" without torquing my knee.I look a little weird in class as I am the only student wearing this "Chinese style" shoe but I don't care. This is the answer I was looking for.Material and workmanship is comparable to other T'ai Chi slippers and I expect the same wear.Definitely will reorder.

Upper fabric isn't elastic; bottom is nice and flat; be sure to measure your feet
I have a love-hate relationship with these shoes.Pros:-These shoes are very flexible. You can fold them (reasonably) without breaking them and stack them on top of each other.-These shoes are very flat (with maybe a slightly elevated heel). They make for good weight lifting shoes as a result.Cons:-They smell like they came from a petroleum factory when I first got them. It took a few days to air them out and they still left a chemical smell on my socks when I wore them.-The fit is very odd. The top fabric is non-elastic fabric. Putting your foot in is actually kind of difficult because there is no stretch to the shoes' uppers, but removing them is awkwardly easy because they do not grip your heels at all. If you were to swing your leg and point your foot in midair, as if you were going to kick something, the shoes will get close to slipping off, or will slip off.-Despite the bottom patterning, these shoes are not grippy. I recommend keeping them clean on the bottom to maximize grip. Otherwise, these might be dangerous and slippery if you wear them on a polished wooden dance floor (I speak from personal experience).I usually wear men's US size 10.5-11, depending on the brand, and I thought sizing was correct. Despite what others say, if you measure the length of your foot like they mention in the product description pictures, you should be able to get the correct size. I confirmed this with customer service, who was prompt in answering my questions about sizing. You really should measure your foot on a piece of paper. Ultimately, I got size 10.5 for my 270-275 mm length feet.Ultimately, sizing issues aside, I do not recommend these shoes if you plan to do vigorous movement in them (like running, kicking, or dancing). The grip over the foot and on the floor is just not good enough. However, if you only plan on walking in them or doing activities that require little foot movement (like weight lifting), these are great shoes if you can get over the chemical smells in the beginning. With the appropriate activities in mind, these shoes might be good for you.

True to size!!
Absolutely love these! However, I wasn't sure which review to listen to. One said true to size, one said order a size up, another said order a size down. I ordered 2 sizes up to be safe and they're VERY roomy. I ordered these for my Ranma 1/2 cosplay so I need them to fit a bit snugger. I'll be gifting this pair to my fiance and ordering my actual size very soon!

Couldn't Get a Size That Fit
I really want to like these shoes. The tread is great for some of the spin maneuvers during the 24 and 48 Chen Style Taiji forms, unfortunately, I could not find a size that fit correctly.I started with the A model in a size 9, and it was way too loose around the heel to safely perform any kind of spin, either on the ball or heel of the foot. I returned that via Whole Foods (super convenient and easy) and ordered the Y model in an 8.5.When the 8.5 Y model arrived, it was snug around the whole foot, but felt like it was compressing my big toe and impeding circulation. I wrote a comment to the seller and they refunded the value of the shoe. I purchased the Y in a 9, thinking this would be the ticket, but somehow my big toe still felt compressed and my heel was slipping out of the shoe just with walking. Not sure if this is a design flaw, or if it's just my feet, but overall not a success for me. I'll be looking at something with laces or straps that is probably a little more expensive, but that can be adjusted to actually fit my foot.
