Economic and Humane Training Collar
I have 5 indoor/outdoor dogs, four are rat terriers, the other a pretty healer mix. They LOVE to bark at anything and everything when they are in their play yard. Cats, cars, horseback riders, pedestrians and nothing at all. When I let them all in for bedtime, it's a bark fest, fighting for first position through the door. The first day they each wore a collar, set to least sensitivity...crickets. I had to check on them periodically to assure myself they hadn't escaped. When I let them in that evening...crickets. It was amazing, they filed in like debutantes at a ball. Now it's almost like an episode of MTV Silent Library around here...might hear a peep now and then, but none of the incessant harping as before.COLLAR: Easily adjusted to fit the various neck sizes of my five dogs, although I do wish the collar and device came in a little smaller size for a better fit with less excess strap. Plenty long for about any average size dog, better too long than too short anyway. Easy to set sensitivity by using clearly marked buttons. Easy to test by lightly blowing on the device.Best of all, there are warning tones and as a last resort, a shock slight enough to only startle them, reminding them to shush, if they have continued to bark. The only thing I really worry about is one chewing on the collar of another or one dog's barking setting off the others. I haven't really noticed either being a problem though. Even without wearing the collars, the barking has decreased significantly.BATTERY: Be sure to find and buy your 6V batteries on Amazon, buy in bulk to save money and have plenty on hand. Cheap ones are fine.Mine are still using same batteries that came with the collars and I've had them a couple of weeks so far.I would recommend this collar for an inexpensive solution to bark training.

New sherrif for Inmate
Yes, my dogs' name is Inmate. He's Highly intelligent, totally charming and loads of fun but...turn my back on him for even one minute and he's either stealing something or making a break for it and in general life is all about Him and I even love That about him. The GD barking/screetching at absolutely Nothing is the only thing I detest from him and until I yell "I'll crack your head" there's just no stopping him! And I can't very well say that while I'm on a conference call. The whole front of my home faces the street and I have all windows that go from floor to ceiling and there's always walkers, joggers, UPS, dog walkers..I work in my home so it's always a treat while I'm on the phone with a client and they ask WTH is that?. This collar STOPPED him straight out of the chute! I love this thing and worth every penny and then some. Inmate knows how well it works too because I took it off of him for a minute to adjust it and he ran straight to the windows and started barking his A$$ of at Nothing. I only take the collar off at night now.Oh, never in my life have I ever struck an animal of any kind but something about the crack his head works.

Solid product -- Would recommend, but be prepared to buy lots of batteries
Edit: 3 weeks in -- the battery died, the batteries are not expensive. But we were not expecting it to die this quickly and are now without a functioning collar and one very yappy dog who has now figured out he can yap to his heart's content and our head's ache. I still would recommend this collar, as I just purchased 3 more for other members of our "pack" -- but I am downgrading to four stars because of the battery life. I really wish this had a rechargeable in it, since I sense this is going to be a long process and a LOT of batteries -- It would be much nicer if I could just plug it in once a week overnightORIGINAL REVIEWSimply put this thing is awesome, I had it on my dog for 1 day before noticing a very real and very positive change in behavior. Day 1 he was a bit confused, but I was there to calm him when he was corrected. By day 2 my wife made the comment when she drove home and he started barking that as soon as he heard the tone the look his face was almost like "he realized he did something he wasn't supposed to do and was trying to cover his mouth with a paw".We have now been using the collar for two weeks and he rarely if ever gets to the correction and often stops with just the tone. My only must have piece of advice for dog owners is you need to determine what sensitivity level is right for your dog. Initially the sensitivity level was two low and he would be able to bark without any reminder or correction, but a little tweaking over a couple days fixed that. In a matter of two weeks this collar has helped our dog go from a yappy dog to one that you love being outside with and helped him to learn he can still ask for affection without blowing your ears out and annoying his owners.

My dog has definitely stopped barking!
I would love to give this collar a 5-star rating. It was easy to put together; the video and instruction sheet were very clear on setup and operation; the collar is adjustable to fit my dog, and the collar operates exactly as described when my dog starts barking...usually. That's the reason for subtracting the one star. I started by pushing the "-" button till it stopped beeping, thus lowering the device to its least sensitive mode. That still allows my dog to bark more than a few times before any beep happens, which isn't quite sensitive enough. So I pushed the "+" button one time to raise the sensitivity just one level, and the collar then gives a beep even when he makes only a little growl or is playing with the other dog. So one level up is too sensitive. However, in spite of the fact that the over sensitivity has caused my dog to sort of shut down altogether, he is indeed no longer barking. I just wish there were a sensivity level in between lowest and next-lowest that would allow him to be a playful dog yet still activate when he barks. Otherwise, I think this is a really good anti-barking training tool.
