Good book for grandson
This is the perfect book for our 12 year old grandson. He loves looking up bug facts and checking out the incredible pictures. He request an "adult book of facts" for his birthday. This was perfect. Also bought him the Amazon 4 piece specimen containers. He can collect, examine, look up, and release bugs around his house and on camping trips!

I am a beginner extreme macro photographer.
This book is truly an encyclopedia. It gives excellent information, concentrating on arthropods that are easily recognizable. I like that it provides historical and defense content, as well as identification, and habitat. It also described insects difficult to see with the naked eye.

Insects
There are a few other books like this available on Amazon, this one is the best one. Here's why: out of the other books that show up when you type in "insect encyclopedia" one is outdated, one is thicker than this but costs over 100 dollars, the field guide only covers American insects, and a good number of the rest are meant for children with short descriptions and big pictures. If you want an affordable, adult level book on insects please buy this one. The others were a bit dissappointing for me, this one lays out each country and the general insects found on it with full colour pictures, size, habitat, life cycle and so on.

Fortunately, that information is included next to all the ...
This was a gift for my 5 year old son. He loves looking at the pictures of different bugs and asking questions about how big they are, where they live, what they eat. Fortunately, that information is included next to all the pictures so I can answer his questions and keep my status as the Dad who knows everything for a little while longer.
