The results have just been amazing. I had two main issues
I bought two of these back in May for my 1/2 acre back yard, with one being placed on the far left side of the back yard and one on the far right side. The results have just been amazing. I had two main issues, yellow flies and mosquitoes. Last year, my family was getting tore up by yellow flies at dusk, and then the mosquitoes would follow later on as it got darker. These insects made it virtually impossible to hang by the pool and have an enjoyable evening. Fast forward to this year and the story is completely different. I have not been bitten by a single yellow fly this summer, and I rarely even see a mosquito. In central Florida where I live, we have been getting afternoon thunderstorms daily this summer, which is a perfect environment for mosquitoes to hatch and multiply. But even with those factors favoring the mosquito population, I've seen virtually none whatsoever thanks to the Dynatraps I bought. So here's my recommendation based upon my results: Buy twice as many as you think you'll need based upon the instructions, and put them out before the mosquito season begins. You can definitely put these traps out at any time, but you need to realistically give them six weeks to work their magic before you can assess their effectiveness.

A review, one year in...
I don’t often write reviews, but with so many conflicting ones for this product, I thought I’d weigh in. I live in GA, where mosquito season runs from March to November, with a creek that runs thru my backyard that creates a perfect nesting ground for the little Suckers. My yard was at times intolerable, for me, my guests and my pups. I went out on a limb, in spite of conflicting reviews and tried Dynatrap- and I don’t regret it! I even purchased a second unit for my parents a month later, I was so impressed.A few thoughts:-Read the instructions!! Do not install the unit where you are most, it attracts the bugs so doing so attracts them to you. Mine is on a post, approximately 12ft out from my patio, and this seems to work well.-I leave it plugged in and turned on all the time. I unplugged it and brought it in over winter, right before a snow/ice storm and brought it back out as soon as temps began consistently staying about freezing.-I empty it every few days; it does attract mostly moths and mosquitoes. I was concerned about it killing beneficial bugs and pollinators, as I do garden, but that has not been an issue in the year I’ve used it so far.-It’s not perfect, there are still a few mosquitoes here and there, but not many. I’ve been sitting on my patio for nearly 2 hours, as I type and have yet to get a bite. I call that a win!

Really works until bulb burns out
Works great, love it, but bulb burned out after only a few weeks.Without the bulb, barely does anything at all.If you use, plan to keep on all the time during mosquito season and stock up on replacement bulbs for that time of the year. Looks like replacement bulbs are $10-15, but supply issues seem to make the bulbs only available from third party sellers and $20-30 per bulb.

Doesn’t trap mosquitoes and broke in less than 6 months
I got this because of the claims and reviews about reducing mosquito population. The description said it would take a while to see a noticeable difference in the mosquito population, so I gave it some time before calling it a dud. From the start, it trapped moths in droves, but not mosquitoes. It’s difficult to empty (and live bugs just fly out), but the dead bugs never included any mosquitoes. If it attracted any, it didn’t trap them. Now, less than 6 months later, the motor/fan has stopped working. It’s probably been that way for a while - because this trap didn’t do a great job of trapping anything, I didn’t need to empty it often, and it’s set up across the yard from where we spend time (as recommended, to attract the bugs away from people), so I wouldn’t have noticed that the fan sound disappeared. Disappointing - this is an expensive piece of junk that never did as it claimed it would and is now broken.

Had to send it back
I've had it connected a few weeks, the product seems to work, as it is collecting a bunch of insects. I can't speak to whether it got rid of mosquitos in my backyard just yet, because we really haven't been in the yard much lately. I am in Miami, so we do have mosquitos all the time. However, I am sending it back because I saw another reviewed with this problem and it happened to mine. One day I went outside and heard the fan making a pretty loud annoying hissing sound that you can heard 20-30 feet away, which is annoying. Maybe it's this model, I went for this model in particular, because the plug was a regular size wall plug. I was going to go for the other model but the plug was on of those big rectangular plugs that wouldnt have fit in my water proof covered outlet I have outside. I hate to return used items, but the noise is really bad.

Mosquito destroyer and Micro zoo all in one package !
We live in Florida and our county was called "Mosquito County" over a hundred years ago for a good reason. We have plenty of them. Our beloved outdoor porch is our protector but walking in yard is bite city for the small mosquitos that you can't feel but leave a welt. Well, this product (DT1100) is installed and working well, I have noticed an appreciable reduction of skeeters and give it a good score. I read you have to replace the special coated light often and hope that does not mean every three months as some have suggested. Best part of this purchase... is the micro zoo, ants probing the stainless screen for dead tidbits of insects, then the tree frogs poaching the fly bys at night and the anole lizards watching moths during the day. Best of all is the resurgence of apex predator black snakes eating the lizards and frogs. It was been fun and productive so far, I am happy.
