Ayurveda: The Science of Self-Healing
My book arrived yesterday, and I'm thrilled to have this source. I used to have horrible health issues throughout my lifetime and it seems I was seeing a different doctor about 4-5 times a week! I'd also had Bariatric surgery about 20 years ago which means my stomach is only the size of an egg, so I can only consume around 800 calories daily. With that surgery, I eliminated 135 lbs from my body. But, because of that surgery, I've had to truly learn how to keep my body nourished with the proper foods, relying on protein powders for my basic nourishment. My mother, used Ayurvedic methods but never shared any of her knowledge with us, her children. But, many years ago I commenced shifting to consuming more and more foods considered Ayurvedic. I liked the results and so, I commenced increasing my consumption of Ayurvedic foods. And, I think I've finally figured out how to pronounce the word Ayurvedic. Now I have a wealth of Ayurvedic powders, know lots and lots about each of the products I have, use the outside packaging of each of my products to denote nutritional information about them, etc., whether product "x" is in my juice, my breakfast, my lunch, or my dinner.I've used many sources for my purchasing of these products, but slowly have gravitated to exclusively getting my products through BulkSupplements.com. But, now that BulkSupplements.com, also has their products listed on Amazon.com, sometimes I purchase refills from them as well. But, whereas BulkSupplements.com provides very detailed information on the nutritional values of their products, Amazon.com does not do so. So I only use Amazon.com as a secondary source for any foods sold in package form and truly won't consider them my primary food source because there is no way of knowing what is actually in the packages. Now my health is excellent, but I am most curious about making meals made with these Ayurvedic foods. So my food adventures have turned to learning more about Ayurveda. So I commenced purchasing a number of books on this subject.Ayurveda: The Science of Self-Healing by Dr. Vasant Lad fits my needs perfectly. My health is absolutely excellent and I have no medical issues at all anymore, although my entire life was one sicko life: 20 years ago I finally calculated how many times hospitalized, how many broken bones, etc. and was appalled when I realized that at that time I had been hospitalized 23 times, suffered 35 major illnesses and diseases, including one where an infection caused sepsis and my liver was eaten as well as 1/2 of my pancreas, almost lost my life, 16 major surgeries, too many broken bones to count, 8 concussions with 4 of them causing me to spend weeks or months in loonie-bins in hospitals. I also had a total hip replacement surgery, but that doctor had accidentally fixed a muscle, attaching it to an outer area of my hip, and thus the absolute screaming pain.I'm also a very strong praying Christian and have been supernaturally healed ever so many time; but, the healings only lasted for a short while, and then, I'd be back in screaming pain. Finally, with my last supernatural healing which commenced the day after I'd been compelled to see a "pain doctor," who yelled and screamed at me for 3 solid hours, and which I took without telling him where he could go, and simply leaving, I simply took all that abuse. At that time, my pain level was off the charts. I HAD TO HAVE Oxycodone, and that's why folks thought I had become addicted. I hadn't. I was in screaming pain because the total hip replacement doctor had screwed up in where he decided a muscle should go, and it didn't belong where he put it inside my body.As I rode home which required me to take 3 buses, by the time I got home, I was so angry, my poor kitty tried everything she could to stop my anger. (Poor kitty, but she loves me and truly tried to help.) The next morning, my Grandfather Clock commenced chiming even though it had a broken spring in it (and still has). And, at 10:00 a.m. our Lord commenced healing me of everything. What I found out, is that because my life had always been so challenged, I'd shut down my emotions, and the only one I knew was excruciating fear towards everyone. And so, I was instantly healed yet again of all my diseases and confusions enumerated above. But, this time, I commenced learning about my emotions. As I'd learn an emotion, what positives/damages it caused within my body, another part of my body would more thoroughly relax and bones would shift where they needed to be, muscles would shift where they needed to be, and now (because I kept a handwritten journal) I precisely know 166 emotions, with the last one learned 1-21-2020 (abject failure). That emotion was the hardest of all for me to learn.Yesterday when my copy arrived, I glanced at the topics which are covered in Dr. Vasant Lad's book Ayurveda, the Science of Self-Healing, and saw that emotions are listed, disease proneness, mental constitutions, emotional release, etc., and I simply know that Dr. Vasant Lad's paradigm book has already become an excellent resource for me.This summer I'll turn 83, and our Lord told me a year ago, I'll live another 40 years and that I'm finally stepping into a new journey that I will greatly enjoy. I'm truly looking forward to gaining more understanding on how to be healthy and well in all ways. For me, this is ever going to be the absolute best years of my life! And why? I am truly most healthy and happy, and now excited to truly learning more about Ayurveda, and that this specific book is an excellent resource for me.

An informative book for anyone interested in this Indian (Ayurveda) system of healing.
Since becoming a Reiki master I have begun serious study of other energy healing systems. I recently purchased this 175 page soft cover book (Ayurveda: The science of self-healing: a practical guide by Dr. Vasant Lad) from Amazon for a bargain price. According to the author, “Ayurveda is the oldest healing system in the world.” After reading and studying numerous books on a wide variety of energy healing methods I found this system (Ayurveda) to be the most complex method of healing. This book IS NOT an easy read. The Ayurveda healing system requires serious and long term study to understand how to apply the healing principles. This is a book that must be seriously studied to actually understand the material. If you can find an experienced Ayurveda instructor or take a college level course on this healing system than this book is a great reference source. This book is organized into thirteen chapters and covers a wide range of topics. It is also fully illustrated with numerous charts. Some of the material you will find in this book includes: history and philosophy, the first life science, Ayurveda and human potential, Ayurveda and the western mind, the five elements of man, the human constitution, disease process, attributes, diagnosis, treatment, diet, taste, lifestyle and routine, time, longevity, medicinal, and many other subjects. If you are seeking to learn this Indian healing system (Ayurveda) you may want to check out this book; however, be aware that this is a complex system to learn from a book.Rating: 4 Stars. Joseph J. Truncale (Author: Chair/Seated Tai Chi, Qigong, and Yoga for seniors and the physically challenged).

A very good book to read for learning about the oldest healing system in the world.
It’s a good and helpful book to read with the many charts, diagrams, and drawings, and the 37 pictures for showing about the Yoga Asanas. But I must admit that I not are living with, or accepting, quite the same ideas about the grouping of persons, behavior, diseases and so on. For example, with the left side of a person contains female, or lunar, energy while the right side contains male or solar energy, and thereby with effect for which side to sleep on.While in the Appendix B, First Aid Treatments, there are many advises, with among other herbs to use, which I accept, and think to be fine. But again, for me mostly a historically informative book.

I read a very old coy of this book while staying at an AirBNB and had to order a copy of my own. It is basic and good and very helpful.

Moderately useful primer on Ayurveda
The first few chapters are good for an introduction to Ayurveda, and later on it contains some lists of useful foods and asana for certain conditions, but then this goes off the deep end into nonsense about color and crystal healing and becomes a complete waste.
