These are the real deal
I bought these to replace my 558's increasingly older and flatter pads. I didn't want to go aftermarket because I like how these sound and didn't want some ridiculous change. Plus, I like foam more than leather for my Sennheisers because of breathability. Anyway, on to the pros and cons1. Actual, genuine replacements for the 558 series. They snapped right on, look identical, and feel identical to the ones I replaced (minus the 2+ years of wear and tear, of course).2. Also fits 598, 559, 579, 599, etc. They all use the same pads as long as you don't mind black instead of gray or brown.3. Easy to install. Just pop the old ones off and pop these on. There is an indicator dot on the inside of the pad. Attach the pad with the indicator on the outside of the headphone (line it up with the L and R printed on the outside of the ear cup) and they'll snap right in.4. Made my 558s feel brand new.Cons1. $35+ for a set of foam pads is a little much even if they are genuine OEM parts.2. Availability is a bit of a problem. These seem to only appear in batches a couple of times a year.I'd like to buy a couple of them and just have them hanging around for the "dry season" when Sennheiser isn't selling these, but at $35 per pair of pads, that's not economically viable. Still, I pick a pair up when I see them available and my old pads start looking really beat up. I've had my 558s for 6 or so years now and it's nice that I'll get at least another 18-24 months out of them. The only other con I have is Senneheiser doesn't use the same Amazon sell page for these so once these are sold out, you may have to look for a different listing to see if they're in stock.A bit of advice for my fellow Senny owners. The new pads are gonna feel a lot less plush than your replacements at first. Mostly because it's been so long since you (and I, I did this too) experienced the pads brand new that we've all kinda forgotten how much stiffer they were out of the box. It usually takes 2-3 weeks for mine to "soften up" a bit and feel like the originals did.

Give your old cans a new lease on life
Great replacement for my 598 SR. The original ones had gone soft and the covers tore apart, but Sennheiser makes replacing these a breeze. There are cheaper unofficial covers, if you don't want to pay the OEM price tag, and the replacement itself is a breeze - no screws, glue, or tape. Just a sharp tug to remove, and a firm press around the rim to reinstall - it clicks right into place. Far cheaper than buying new headphones every few years when the old ones wear out.

Perfect replacement for worn HD598 pads
These replacement pads slotted perfectly into my HD598 headphones. They were rather firm at first, but after a few days of use, they softened considerably (but not excessively!) and are now perfectly comfortable. These new pads provide a much fuller, bassier sound than my old pads, which had gotten very, very squishy and leaked lots of sound.

Fits like a glove!
Replaced the old Sennheiser ear cushions from my headphones. They are a very good value, fit like a glove and have wear very well, comfortable too.

These are OEM HD559 Earpads, not HD598
After doing some research and checking the official sennheiser site I found out why these don't feel as good as the original 598 earpads. These were meant for hd 559s. They're soft and fit the headphones perfectly (not as soft as the 598 pads though), but there's less "give" to the cushion. To me it's like the foam is less porous. This makes the headphones sound less open back and more semi closed because of the more "solid" earpads. I don't hear the same super wide soundstage 598's with these on, they feel like the lower end models and like the 569's. These pads remind me of the pads on the HD 518's I used to own as well. They had cheaper and less premium feeling pads for a cheaper headphone which was fine for that. Just like these pads are compared to the HD598 pads. Bit of bummer since I play gaming competitively and I can tell the soundstage isn't as good for it, so it's a tad harder to pinpoint enemies.

Not of original or "genuine" quality for my HD 558 headphones.
I bought some HD 558 headphones because they did not isolate sound and were supposed to be good for their price. They served me well for like... 3 years now? The ear cushions have been falling apart, so I ordered these from Sennheiser through Amazon. I would think these would be at least somewhat similar to the originals, but the only thing similar is their fitment to my headphones. The new cushions are much harder, isolates my ear more (sound and heat), and noticeably changes the sound characteristics I liked.I would not even calls these genuine as they do not fit the definition. Genuine: "actually having the reputed or apparent qualities or character" (according to Merriam-Webster. But they can call them genuine because of the other definition, "actually produced by or proceeding from the alleged source or author".To me, this feels like a scam. I extremely dislike the practice of using words to mislead a customer into believing a product will be higher quality and/or have certain properties than what is received. Perhaps, these cushions will serve some people well, but I can not say they are worth the price for a product that is subpar to the original. Also if these cushions are like what they have been putting on newer headphones, I believe it is time I look to another manufacturer for future headsets. In the meantime, I may be trying to repair my old cushions or looking for someone who has genuine quality cushions.

Part No 572287
Spent a day looking for replacement ear pads for my HD 560s and took a gamble on these after reading the 560s shared ear pads with the HD 55x and HD 59x series. These ended up being the EXACT official sennheiser replacement ear pads I was looking for and are the real deal.
